September 1942. The German Army has advanced to the gates of Stalingrad. The Russian Army holds on desperately. It is so poorly equipped that every pair of soldiers is given a...
more...single rifle--the second man only gets the weapon when the first is cut down. Trapped in no man's land between the opposing armies, Russian recruit Vassili Zaitsev (Jude Law) finally acquires a rifle from Political Officer Danilov (Joseph Fiennes). Danilov is astonished when Zaitsev picks off several German officers. On their return to the Russian lines, Danilov writes about Zaitsev's exploits in the army newspaper. Zaitsev is assigned to a sniper unit. He kills more German officers and, thanks to Danilov, becomes a hero. In retaliation, the Germans bring in sharpshooter Major Konig (Ed Harris) from Berlin--to hunt Zaitsev. The two snipers engage in a desperate duel, as the appalling Battle of Stalingrad rages.
In ENEMY AT THE GATES, director Jean-Jacques Annaud uses a palate of dull greens, blues, and greys to tell the powerful, true story of Russian sniper Vassili Zaitsev. The film is distinguished by fine performances from Law, Fiennes, Rachel Weisz as a female soldier, and Bob Hoskins as Nikita Khrushchev--with Harris particularly notable as the chilly, aristocratic Konig.

You really would. This film is wonderful, an excellent insight into wartime russia. It's based on the true story of sniper Vassili Zaitsev and his part in the war over Stalingrad during World War 2.

Vasilli Zaitsev (Jude law) is a member of the Russian army, fighting at Stalingrad.
He arrives, and has to go into the battlefield with only a set of bullets. He must get a rifle off one of the bodies. The battle is a massacre of the russians, and as soon as anyone tries to run away, they are shot by the russians themselves.
Vassili Zaitsev is one of the two remaining people (the other is Joseph Fiennes) left on the battlefield, hiding within the bodies with another man. He gets a rifle and shoots five germans with exellent sniper skill without them knowing a thing.
He gets promoted to sniper division and the rest carrys on from there, he is the greatest sniper in the russian army, and he is killing the germans with no fail. Until the germans bring in their best sniper,General Konig (Ed Harris), then it is a battle between the two of them.

The plot to this film is flawless, it is one of the best films i have seen in my life. It's very exciting, and if it took you any closer to the edge of your seat in the battles between the two snipers then you literally would fall right on to the floor. Stunning performances from the entire cast will leave you wide eyed and stunned!

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the film as far as i can see.
This film is must see for absolutely anyone.
I can not wait until it comes out on video/DVD as it is a film that can be watched again and again.

See this film now!
