From 1990 to 2000, U2 made 5 original albums ("Achtung Baby" [1991]; "Zooropa" [1993]; "Passengers" [1995]; "Pop" [1997]; "All that you can't leave behind" [2000]).There are two best of U2 divided into two periods : 1980-1990 & 1990-2000 and songs which do not appear on U2 albums but on films soundtrack. If you compare the CD and the DVD, you'll note that there are more videos on this DVD, that's why I find it definitely more interesting. The main difference is that on the CD, you'll find the song "The first time" (which first appeared on "Zooropa") and as for the limited edition, a number of b-sides and remixes whereas they are not on the DVD. It is the story (shown in colour) of how the people of the USA and Britain coped on the homefront, whilst the service personnel of both countries were away fighting against the Axis countries in what must have seemed like the four corners of the globe. The Atlantic, the Pacific, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the far East, Australasia, and so forth. The first chapter of the DVD is entitled "making do." Because the programme was created for the American audience, it begins not at the start of the homefront in Britain, but with the homefront in America, which was basically created only when Pearl Harbour was attacked by the Japanese. ...i know strictly speaking this review is only for volume 2 but as i did not buy the box set and got the world at war in 5 seperate parts. I have combined my review. THE WORLD AT WAR DVD COLLECTION This is the definitive collection of documentaries from WWII. Coming to us more than 30 years after it was initially broadcast. It is narrated by academy award winner, Sir Lawrence Olivier. I bought all 5 volumes from retrowarez-promotions on ebay. Priced at £6.79 each with £2 postage. Volume 1 runs for 417 minutes, and features archival footage from 1933-1942 doocumenting the rise of the Nazis in Germany. And the start of the war. It also includes the making of. And more. Volume 2 features archival footage fro 1939 –1944 and documents the Russian victories and the bombing raids in England. It runs for 432 minutes. And more... Read review
