...for the programme, Thomas A. Scott, who was classified 4F (one of the lowest grade of fitness (if not the lowest) recognised by the American government, due to a circulatory condition in his legs, explained that he felt so keen the need to do his duty during a time of war, that he volunteered to become an Air Raid Warden.
Their mission was to protect the homefront. He pointed out that during WorldWar 1, they had only needed to be concerned about submarines. But during WorldWar2, they had to concern themselves with the possibility of attacks by airplanes on Philadelphia.
Incidentally, rationing was introduced in America, something that I had not previously been aware of. Potatoes, apparently, totally disappeared in some parts of the USA, and macaroni was used as a substitute in some recipes. And, of course, there were the Victory Gardens...

...i know strictly speaking this review is only for volume 2 but as i did not buy the box set and got the world at war in 5 seperate parts. I have combined my review.

This is the definitive collection of documentaries from WWII. Coming to us more than 30 years after it was initially broadcast. It is narrated by academy award winner, Sir Lawrence Olivier.
I bought all 5 volumes from retrowarez-promotions on ebay. Priced at £6.79 each with £2 postage.
Volume 1 runs for 417 minutes, and features archival footage from 1933-1942 doocumenting the rise of the Nazis in Germany. And the start of the war. It also includes the making of. And more.
Volume 2 features archival footage fro 1939 –1944 and documents the Russian victories and the bombing raids in England. It runs for 432 minutes. And more...

Advantages: Sucks you into a fantastical world Disadvantages: this film tires you out just watching it because its sooooo adventurous
...skywalker who decides that he has wants an adventure and so they leave their home planet to go and deliver this message to the Princess' father. However Darth Vader gets there first and destroys the planet and so the film moves on from there.....
Cutting the story short....
after having been captured by Darth Vader, Obi Wan Kanobi gets killed and they escape and then they join the rebel group after rescuing Princess Leia...and so the film continues with the rebels and our heros trying to save the universe from the Empire!
BUT
As some of you well know George Lucas wrote the star wars with the intention that it were to have 9 volumes. The film, initially started with volumes 4,5 and 6, was recently added to by 1 and 2. But here I shall name them so you know them
