This is one of my first film reviews so please bare with me.
In my opinion ( and that of anyone who has ever seen this film), it is the most funniest, low budget film ever made.
The plot centres around a music store (empire records) and the teens who work there.
The basic plot is that one of the employees Lucas ( will remind you of Karate Kids mr myagi) spends the stores profits and next day he is told the store will be closing to be turned into a chain store.
The manager of Empire was saving money too stop this from happening but seeing as how Lucas, who is also the manager's son stole, the manager has to pay back the money out of his own pocket.
They end up having a massive party to raise money so that the current manager can buy Empire. Guess what - They manage!!!
Ok now i know your thinking what a crap plot - now it would be if it weren't for the actors. The workers come from all walks of backgrouds, including; suicidal, scary heavy metal dude, stoners, cute boy next door, cute girl next door ( guess what happens between them, yip you guessed it - they get it together, but not after a huge event) and to throw things all together they have a Slut played by Renee Zellweger.
Live Tyler and Rory Cochrane also appear.
The soundtrack is amazing! Even if you don't like the film i'm sure that you will love the soundtrack. Its got songs for everyone but the best is the end one - sugar high. However that song is different from the film as on the soundtrack because in the film gina ( Renee) sings and on the soundtrack the original singer is singing.
The film is very hard to come by to buy it but most reputable flm renting places do have it. It took me 3 years to find the film on video and then the video machiene broke down and i bought a dvd player!! Now i can't see Empire because they haven't released it on DVD yet.
I was charged 9.99 from HMV. And the rating is a 12. It lasts around 86 minutes.
The sun describes it as " This is a must see movie". And for once i agree with the sun.
(ignore the SFX evaluation it doesn't have any)
