I absolutely adore this film! The general plot runs thus: Empire records (an independent)is going to be sold to 'Music Town' (a chain). The employees and mamager have to find some way to raise some money to replace the money that Lucas (employee) gambled away so that Joe, the manager can buy the place. In the midst of this is a love story between two employees, one employee who comes in with a bandage on her wrist where she tried to kill herself last night, a couple of employees who really like getting stoned, a record-signing by 'Dance party usa teenybopper type s**t' artist Rex Manings, a juvenile shoplifter, a girl who sleeps around, but really wants to sing in a band... etc. I use this film as 'comfort viewing' when I'm feeling low. And the soundtrack is absolutely amazing - rock for all ages and tastes.
