The Simpsons - Greatest Hits DVD > Reviews

Advantages: Everything you could want in a TV show
Disadvantages: None

To try and put the greatest hits of The Simpsons onto one disc is foolhardy. There are so many classic, touching, hilarious episodes people love that if they did do a greatest hits package it would be so long that it wouldn't be able to fit on anyone's shelves, that is the quality of this show. So this DVD, part of "The Simpsons Classics", contains 4 episodes, each accredited with some sort of landmark. We have "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", which was the very first episode and deals with Homer not getting his Christmas bonus, but in the end gets something much better. There's the 100th episode "Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baddasssss Song" where Bart gets Principal Skinner when he brings Santa's Little Helper into school for show and tell day. There's also "Bart Gets an F" which had the highest ever ratings in America for a Simpsons ...

Meet the family, Sopranos Season one

Advantages: Best television drama ever
Disadvantages: Strong language, adult themes

Sopranos Season 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Intro ~~~~ I will begin this review by issuing a warning to potential readers I am a huge fan of this series so forgive me if it seems I am over hyping this box set. I missed this series when it first came out I didn't catch it until I brought the DVD. At the time of purchase this cost over £35 so was no small investment, I can however state that it was one of the best £35's I have ever spent as it has given me many hours of enjoyment. It was my first introduction into the lives of the Sopranos the greatest American family since the Walton's! They may by now be as famous as the Walton's but that is were the comparison ends, the Walton's this is not, but it is perhaps the best television drama ever and season 1 was the perfect introduction to this Dysfunctional but entirely believable suburban ...

Bada Bing! Sopranos Season 2

Advantages: Best Season of best TV drama series
Disadvantages: Not suitable for those of a delicate nature

of the main reasons season 2 becomes such addictive viewing, when I first purchased this Box set I watched all 13 episodes within a week, never quite knowing what to expect next. If the writing is superior in this season compared to season 1 then the acting is equally as good, James Gandolfini is again outstanding as Tony Soprano acting Boss of a New Jersey crime family, he deservedly won the Emmy for best actor in a drama series for this season. Gandolfini is always mesmerising on screen his character can flip between being totally repulsive to completely charming within a single scene, however much you want to dislike him you always find yourself empathising with him as the pressures of his double life reach boiling point. Other notable new additions to the cast include Janis, Tony's self-centred sister, played by AidaTurturro. She seems to ...
