Advantages: Quirky humour, some good acting Disadvantages: Not much point to the story
Colin and Kate Rogers have taken the monumental decision to move their family from Melbourne to Sydney. Colin is a screen-writer and believes that being in Sydney will give his flagging career a boost. He has plans to write another screenplay, but is thwarted by his usual producer, who isn't convinced that the film will be a commercial success. Then Colin meets Mike McCord, a struggling writer, who convinces Colin that they should write the screenplay ... ...although Mike does very little of the writing, and produce a reasonably successful film.

Advantages: An absolute classic! Disadvantages: None!
...which leaves the way clear for them to travel to the EmeraldCity.
The DVD has a number of extras including a 'making of', behind the scenes footage, deleted scenes and out takes.
I would definitely recommend this DVD to anybody - it is truly a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, especially if you are a fan of classic movies!...

Advantages: A great classic given a good treatment Disadvantages: None really
...even watching the film. But even without that, its a nice inlay that features the ruby slippers upfront of the EmeraldCity.
A great film given the classic treatment and an all new set of brilliant featurettes, I picked this DVD up at a bargain £4 a while back for my niece, but even as the boring uncle, I still got mountains of pleasure out of seeing a childhood classic once again.
Available from all good DVD retailers, but best to buy from www.play.com or www.hmv.co.uk...

Advantages: Classic - need I say more Disadvantages: Reminds you of Christmas any time of the year
...to Dorothy's feet. The Witch now not happy vows to get the slippers back.
Dorothy by this point is clearly frightened (as was I in 1984). She makes clear her wish to return to Kansas and is told the only to return home is to go and see the great and powerful Wizard of Oz and thus the journey begins along the famous yellow brick road, to meet new friends: The Scarecrow, The Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion and to meet the Wizard in the EmeraldCity.
I'll save the rest of the story because if you havent seen this movie (where have you been) its something that I dont want to spoil and if you have seen it then im sure you know the story more than well.
-----> The DVD - Prices/Features
Theres probably been a squillian versions of this movie released on DVD with the most recent being the 2 Disc Special Edition released just before Christmas...
