Directed by Don Coscarelli, mainly a horror director, Bubba Ho-Tep became a cult classic. It did not make the mainstream cinemas in the UK but is now available to buy on special edition DVD. The plot of this film is varied and certainly very peculiar. At heart a horror comedy, with some memorable funny scenes such as that of Haff trying to prove that he really is the King and his elaborate story of how he got into his position and the dark humour of the paramedics wheeling out the dead bodies. Advantages: It's all Shania - sound and pics
Disadvantages: Film of all the crowds

...all mouthing the words of her songs, as though they knew them better than Shania herself.! I wanted this to be an up close and personal video, with Shania just singing her songs for me and my enjoyment!!!!??? So these serious negatives reduce my score for this Shania DVD - I can only possibly rate it at 99.999 % and that is an objective review of course.... Read review

Advantages: The DVD looks and sounds terrific...every element falls into place beautifully...
Disadvantages: those who hate Romeo & Juliet probably wont bother to give it a chance...

...When I was growing up, my parents had two great musicals on the same tape---WEST SIDE STORY and GREASE. My mother knew I would enjoy GREASE more than WEST SIDE STORY and when I tried to watch it, I wasn't really impressed with it, and all I remembered from it was it starting with an aerial shot of Manhattan. I wasn't until this year that I saw WEST SIDE STORY in all its glory, after I was recommended to buy the DVD by a very good friend. Some of my favorite musicals have been MY FAIR LADY, 1776, and the SOUTH PARK movie (weird collection, I know), but I was absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer power and energy of WEST SIDE STORY. And now I'm glad to be writing a review on it, as I tell you about the film---and the experiance I had while watching it. First of all, I know everyone out there doesn't like musicals... Read review
