Elvis Presley - The Definitive Critical Review DVD

Advantages: The DVD looks and sounds terrific...every element falls into place beautifully...
Disadvantages: those who hate Romeo & Juliet probably wont bother to give it a chance...

...When I was growing up, my parents had two great musicals on the same tape---WEST SIDE STORY and GREASE. My mother knew I would enjoy GREASE more than WEST SIDE STORY and when I tried to watch it, I wasn't really impressed with it, and all I remembered from it was it starting with an aerial shot of Manhattan. I wasn't until this year that I saw WEST SIDE STORY in all its glory, after I was recommended to buy the DVD by a very good friend. Some of my favorite musicals have been MY FAIR LADY, 1776, and the SOUTH PARK movie (weird collection, I know), but I was absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer power and energy of WEST SIDE STORY. And now I'm glad to be writing a review on it, as I tell you about the film---and the experiance I had while watching it. First of all, I know everyone out there doesn't like musicals... Read review

Advantages: Great story and acting
Disadvantages: Perhaps too farfetched for some to grasp

Directed by Don Coscarelli, mainly a horror director, Bubba Ho-Tep became a cult classic. It did not make the mainstream cinemas in the UK but is now available to buy on special edition DVD. The plot of this film is varied and certainly very peculiar. At heart a horror comedy, with some memorable funny scenes such as that of Haff trying to prove that he really is the King and his elaborate story of how he got into his position and the dark humour of the paramedics wheeling out the dead bodies. Advantages: Very indepth in details of Elvis
Disadvantages: None that I could find

...Elvis may not be alive now, but his music and films live on. There will only ever be one King and that is Elvis. Details of his early life, when he was in the army and how he met some of the guys that ended up working for him,also how he met his wife and the life thy lead before he married and afterwards was very well detailed by his Wife and Daughter in depth. I could watch it again and again and still find new information about him. New fans are always coming to enjoy his music and films which is why he is still so loved by all his fans around the world. Fans visit Gracelands during his Birthday week and again in August for the Elvis week.... Read review
