Focusing on the overweight, older Elvis that many people would rather forget, THAT'S THE WAY IT IS is nonetheless a compelling, fascinating, and highly amusing musical documentary. Simultaneously celebrating and poking good-natured fun at the Las Vegas era of Elvis's career, director Denis Sanders often just sits back and lets the performances speak for themselves. The film includes the King preparing offstage for his 1970 tour and culminates in his opening night performance in Vegas. The film includes more than 30 of the King's fabulous songs.

...though Tarantino was only credited to writing the film I feel he had something to do with the casting side of things because the all star cast typifies a Tarantino directed film.
The Cast
Clarence Worley:- The main character of the film, played by Christian Slater. Quite a poor guy who has the marvellous dead end job of working in a comic book store. He seems pretty happy with it though because he doesn't seem to have any ambitions in which to move to a higher career. Also has a morbid fascination with ElvisPresley who he believes visits him and is his mentor. His fascination is highlighted by the line "If I really had to f*** a guy, I'd f*** Elvis", rightly replied to him by the line "I would f*** Elvis, when he was alive but not now". He also has a very big interest in kung fu films, brought to our attention in the film by the fact...

Advantages: Great story and acting Disadvantages: Perhaps too farfetched for some to grasp
...memorable because of their dark horror theme such as the image of large scarab beetles scurrying around.
A man called Sebastian Haff has spent the last 20 years of his life suffering from an infection from a hip injury. This leads to some great dialogue between him and the nurse. He is now in a nursing home. Sebastian believes that he is ElvisPresley and that he switched places with an impersonator to get out of the limelight. However, the contract that stated all this was destroyed in a freak BBQ accident so he has no sure way of proving this.
The nursing home has been experiencing some odd goings on with people found dead and graffiti over the toilets. Elvis meets up with Jack, who believes he was John F Kennedy, but had had his skin dyed in a Governmental cover up. They aim to find out about the strange goings...

Advantages: Great Story, Great Cast, Great Soundtrack... Disadvantages: A lot of swearing / blood / violence may put people off.
..."True Romance" is a 1993 movie directed by Tony Scott, and written by Quentin Tarrantino, and follows the story of Clarance and Alabama in their persuit of happiness.
The movie opens with a prologue, set in a dark, smokey bar. With "Gracelands" playing from the jukebox, you are first introduced to Clarance Worley.
In a fairly brilliant piece of scriptwriting, he is discussing the merits of ElvisPresley, in the hope of 'pulling' a blonde woman at the bar. His lines are quite comical, obviously inspired with a touch of alcohol, but also very heartfelt. Despite his best efforts, he ends up going to the cinema to see the Sonny Chiba movie marathon alone.
As the opening credits start to roll, the anticipation builds. To the amazing instrumental track "You're So Cool" by Hans Zimmer, and the Detroit cityscape backgrounds, the cast...
