...of making these formulaic films. He had not performed in front of a live audience- what he did best- for more than seven years.
In 1968, however, Elvis and the american T.V. station NBC decided he should perform live again in front of an audience in a televised special. Elvis trained to get himself ready for the performances both vocally and physically. He wanted to prove both to himself and the world that he could still perform as well as he had in the past: and he could. In fact he was better than he had ever been. The passion, excitement and charisma he showed in these performances was amazing.

Advantages: Great show and great dvd set with many features and very well presented. Disadvantages: None at all
...On the 14th January 1973, ElvisPresley gave a show at the Honolulu International Centre (in aid of the 'Kui Lee Cancer Fund', that would be beamed around the world, via satelite. It waws seen by nearly one and a half BILLION people. The show in which Elvis threw his 1000$ belt into the crowd.
This 2 disc DVD set that gives accounts of both the the originally aired 'live' show, the rehearsal (shot a day before) and the edited version that aired in America a few months later.
There are also the additional songs recorded for the american version e.g. Ku-u-i-po and Hawaain Wedding song, seen here totally uncut in the recording stage and the versions used in the show, as well as the full footage of Elvis' arrival by helicopter to the Centre.
My view: Simply brilliant! It is an absolute pleasure to be able to watch one of the greatest...

Advantages: Great story and acting Disadvantages: Perhaps too farfetched for some to grasp
...Bruce Campbell ---- ElvisPresley/Sebastian Haff
Ossie Davis ---- John F. "Jack" Kennedy
Ella Joyce ---- The Nurse
Heidi Marnhout ---- Callie
Bob Ivy ---- Bubba Ho-tep
Bubba Ho-Tep cannot be defined in a single genre, because it is so diverse. Directed by Don Coscarelli, mainly a horror director, Bubba Ho-Tep became a cult classic. It did not make the mainstream cinemas in the UK but is now available to buy on specialedition DVD.
The plot of this film is varied and certainly very peculiar. At heart a horror comedy, with some memorable funny scenes such as that of Haff trying to prove that he really is the King and his elaborate story of how he got into his position and the dark humour of the paramedics wheeling out the dead bodies. However, this film does more than provide a few cheap laughs. There are some scenes that prove...
