Rising from child star to film icon, in her heyday Elizabeth Taylor was the epitome of Hollywood glamour. This collection spans three decades of her legendary career. FATHER'S LITTLE DIVIDEND (1951) is the sequel to the hugely popular FATHER OF THE BRIDE, and reunites the entire cast for another charming turn. Although Stanley's (Spencer Tracy) hoping for some peace and quiet now that Kay's (Taylor) been married off, he soon learns he's in for more chaos as an expectant grandfather. In THE LAST TIME I SAW PARIS (1954), a WWII veteran (Van Johnson) falls in love with a restless expatriate (Taylor) in postwar Paris. And in DIVORCE HIS, DIVORCE HERS (1973) Jane (Taylor) and Martin (Richard Burton) have been married for almost twenty years, but find themselves on the verge of divorce. The film is in two parts, each telling the story from the individual partner's perspective.
Advantages: Loads of movies, 11 of them were banned Disadvantages: Print quality bad on some
...Let it not be said, that I shy away from reviewing a big project. But having purchased Mill Creek Entertainments boxset of movies for just £17.99, and being so impressed at locating so many movies that have not been seen on UK shores for over 20; I felt compelled to have a try at reviewing this product.
I’m not the sort of person who will sit down and watch a Scream movie, or Friday The 13th, or even Halloween that happily. I hate that Hollywood crap horror, which is as much humour than horror. The sort of movies I love pull you into their frightening web and keep you there; 50 Chilling Classics offers a mixture of the both, 50% Hollywood style fare, 50% movies of a different psychological plane.
I must point out the picture quality varies from movie to movie, but in short your looking VHS standard across the board with one or two...

Part One: A Fan's Dream Comes True at Last.
On Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, Lucasfilm Ltd. and 20th Century-Fox Home Entertainment released -- some might say unleashed -- the DVD edition of one of the most anticipated moviecollections since the invention of this increasingly popular format: The Star Wars Trilogy And despite some opposition from fans who (a) wanted the DVD set to include both the 1977-83 versions and the 1997 Special Editions and (b) are unhappy with further alterations made to the "Classic" trilogy especially for the 2004 DVD editions, The Star Wars Trilogy four-disc set has been selling briskly. (It's No. 1 in DVD sales at Amazon.com.)
I've been a Star Wars fan since 1977, so not only have I seen the existing five Episodes of George Lucas' space fantasy...

Advantages: All 5 films immortalised on DVD Disadvantages: Effects are dreadful.
...It's a madhouse!!! A madhouse!!!, I do like my classic sci-fi films and none are better than the original 1967 version of Planet of the apes. The original film was based on an idea from the French novel by Pierre Boulle, and was the start of a theme that would span for five films. When I heard they were releasing a boxset of the original films with the upcoming release of the 2001 remake I had my order put in before you can say a short word very fast.
For the princely sum of £45, I received my boxset through the post and marvelled at it beauty. Six disks contained in a fold out box. The five original films and an extra disk of behind the scenes and interviews. So I set myself down for the night, put the first disk into my DVD player and this is what happened next:
Planet of the Apes (1967)
When Colonel George Taylor (Charlton...
