Advantages: outstanding storyline. Disadvantages: bloody. not suitable for children.
elfenlied is one hell of an anime. the very first scene of the first episode is a girl with a red hair with her arm severed and fingers still twitching. and the next is a pure violence and intense action througout the episode. but that's just not the only exciting part, after a hardcore action and violence, the story now shifts to mild content. and a romance elements - yes a romance - comes into play. with a bunch of nudity and bodies being torn apart and add a romantic scene, this anime carries a lot of punch.
What makes ElfenLied distinctive and intriguing is its effectiveness at melding all the standard aspects together with a couple of surprises and some new material to create a production which has a strong impact on the viewer. Its horror scenes carry a punch, but so do its romantic and dramatic aspects. A perfect blend ...

into the most hilarious of misadventures.
He rarely speaks and mumbles all the time. Mr Bean the original used used body language as apposed to words, to deliver the major portion of his dialog. He also brought out a full length film in 1997 entitled ''Bean The Ultimate Disater Movie'', so having mastered both the big and small screen how else could they 'milk' Rowan's genius character... Well animation of course. What other way to perfectly destroy what was done and dusted in the 90's. I personally think the film was good but in parts was pushing the unique Mr Bean character.

ElfenLied is wonderful anime series.
You will hear many narrow-minded critics condemn this particular anime with words such as "amoral", "sick", "depraved".
They couldn't be further from the truth.
ElfenLied is a beautiful, often infinitely sad, look at the sinister facade of humanity.
ElfenLied is made up of 13 episodes (+1 bonus episode), all crafted by Lynn Okatomo. The first one was released in Japan, sometime during the summer of 2004.
Vector 1 contains the first 4 episodes of the series.
The action kicks off in a high-tech research facility, on the small island of Kamakura. Lucy is a Diclonius, a mutant breed of human. DVD Description
Like the cherry blossoms and bloody decapitations that saturate its frames, director Mamoru Kanbe's grisly anime series, ELFEN LIED, contrasts the opposing forces of good and evil with equal parts beauty and violence. Sexy, pink-haired Lucy is part of a race of genetic mutants known as Diclonius, who sport horns in their heads and are able to savagely dismember their victims with the use of psychically-controlled invisible arms called vectors. After Lucy makes a violent escape from the military compound that imprisons her, she washes up naked and vulnerable on a beach shorefront and is taken in by two teenage cousins, Kohta and Yuka. But unbeknownst to her kindly benefactors, the now mute and amnesiac Lucy (redubbed Nyu for her inability to speak) still retains traces of her true killer nature, which amply reveal themselves when the government sends out a team of fellow mutant assassins to find and destroy her. Bloody and violent yet beautifully animated, this volume continues the anime series with three more episodes.
