Advantages: Well written screenplay, good acting, classic film Disadvantages: Slightly too long, and slow in places
Set in 11th - 12th century Spain, this film is unique to its genre and has been quoted as an "epic masterpeice". Charlton Heston at his very best, he is as intense in this film as in the much accredited "Ben Hur". The film is very powerful, and the history is portrayed very accurately and the colour of the film is superb. Sophia Loren is good, but is definetly overshadowed by Charlton Hestons performance. This film absorbs you into this time period, ... ...a good mixture of action, adventure and romance. Overall this is a "feel good" movie, with a classic ending (No spoilers here!) Definetly one to watch again and again. There are hardly any extras on the DVD, at least the one I have anyway, I think that some extra scenes would be nice, although the film is long enough anyway!! A masterpeice of its time, a true classic of today. ...
