Fender: Getting Started On Electric Guitar
Review of Fender Presents: Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD by midpikyrozziy

Advantages: Good for beginners with a little experience
Disadvantages: Not for complete beginners

...This is a good DVD for anyone who wants to get started on the electric guitar, and begin to play things a bit more complicated to impress friends and family. Keith Wyatt is obviously a very accomplished and skilled guitar player, and he knows what he's talking about. He presents new skills clearly and teaches what he knows well. The only flaw in this DVD is that it may be too hard for complete beginners of the guitar. Where a couple of the lessons it has should be devoted to how to hold the guitar, tuning, how to strum properly and basic chords, it races through these basic skills quite quickly. However, once you have mastered these key skills, the instructional guide moves along at a good pace, and covers lots of things, such as minor pentatonic scales, major pentatonic scales, dominant chords, power chords, and how to play in electric... Average Tutorial
Review of Eric Clapton - The Early Years - Guitar Signature Licks DVD by Dogwillhunt

Advantages: Two views of guitar
Disadvantages: No tab, not slow or easy to follow. "Jam along" songs incomplete

...I have never used a guitar DVD tutorial before, but have seen drumming ones. I was under the impression it was fairly standard to have tab running along the bottom of the screen, but aparently I was wrong. The DVD is hosted by Doug Boduch, proving classic sweet Clapton guitar can be made uncool. He is awkward, ugly and very uncool. He teaching skills concist of being able to play the songs, and speak English. I have been playing guitar for two years I think, and I found him hard to follow most of the time. On my version of the DVD the songs were in a different order than on the back of the case. There is no problem with this, but simply seems cheap and unprofessional. You will eventually learn the songs with this DVD, but Im sure you could find a better one to do it faster and enjoy it more.... Read review

Chris Botti & friends…
Review of Chris Botti - Night Sessions Live DVD by Miles13

Advantages: It's real music....
Disadvantages: Region 1 only

...for the Columbia label (the musical home of jazz legend Miles Davis), this DVD is a record of their performance, a report in the L.A. times said of the show "trumpeter Chris Botti's performance, was an impressive step forward for a performer who seems to possess all the qualities of a breakout musical star, visually charismatic, musically engaging, appealing personable". His band for the show was as follows: - Shane Fontayne (guitar) Harvey Jones (keyboards) Jon Ossman (bass) Karen Teperberg (drums) Everett Bradley (percussion) and sitting in on a couple of tracks on keyboards Jason Rebello and guest vocalists Sting on a couple of songs and Shawn Colvin adding her vocal magic on 2 tracks.
