DVD Description
The Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg finds himself as an older man going through the recollection of his life. All the aspects that constructed this complex character are gathered together in this mosaic of memory, his schooling, his loves, his torturous loneliness and the triumph of fame. Performed by pianist Staffan Scheja, the narrative line is held given through voice-over by acclaimed thespian Derek Jacobi.
Advantages: Very tense thriller, good female lead, nice spooky effects Disadvantages: Too long, Harrison Ford takes a while to warm up (it happens to us all...)!
...’ married couple with regual names (Norman & Claire) and regular lives. They kid around, "people watch" and pat themselves on the back quite readily after packing their daughter off to college. Okay, they’re not perfect, or else this movie might not exist. Their boat-house seems like the perfect haunt, but insert ghost pun here and run with it.
Things go bump in the night – and day - and our Michelle starts to get worried. Harrison fears for her sanity until things come to light, which threaten to make him believe – but at whatprice?

Of course, the trick with all this genre hopping is effectively making the switch. Peter Jackson managed it, going from the uber-gore of Braindead to the beauty and surrealism of Heavenly Creatures with disturbing ease. Stanley Kubrick did sci-fi, war, eroticism...

"It's better burn out, than to fade away!" = Kurgen

Advantages: Excellent movie - kept my attention the whole way through Disadvantages: Quite long
...We rented this video from Xtravision over the weekend – we were having a lazy one so renting a video was easier than going to the cinema! It was a special 2 new releases for 2 nights for £5 – not bad!! I choose What Lies Beneath. Why – l don’t know – Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer are actors of a certain stature and do not usually make bad movies l suppose.
It is a Robert Zemeckis film and from what l can gather a bit of a change of style for him – his previous big hits being the likes of Forrest Gump and Back to the Future – both comedy feel good films. Well feel good this ain’t!
What lies beneath is a psychological thriller – similar to The hand that rocks the Cradle etc etc. I watched this movie in certain parts with a cushion covering my face and my eyes wide...
