Beneath What Lies
Review of What Lies Beneath (Wide Screen) by  peppersinclaire

Advantages: Very tense thriller, good female lead, nice spooky effects
Disadvantages: Too long, Harrison Ford takes a while to warm up (it happens to us all...)!

...’ married couple with regual names (Norman & Claire) and regular lives. They kid around, "people watch" and pat themselves on the back quite readily after packing their daughter off to college. Okay, they’re not perfect, or else this movie might not exist. Their boat-house seems like the perfect haunt, but insert ghost pun here and run with it. Things go bump in the night – and day - and our Michelle starts to get worried. Harrison fears for her sanity until things come to light, which threaten to make him believe – but at what price? * * * * * Of course, the trick with all this genre hopping is effectively making the switch. Peter Jackson managed it, going from the uber-gore of Braindead to the beauty and surrealism of Heavenly Creatures with disturbing ease. Stanley Kubrick did sci-fi, war, eroticism... Read review

There can only be ONE!
Review of Highlander (Wide Screen) by  emi_angel

Advantages: Great acting, storyline and scenes
Disadvantages: Special effects

...are some famous quotes from the film and also my favourites. This just shows what a good film it is. "I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. I was born in 1518 in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel. And I am immortal" "There can be only one!" = Connor MacLeod "Hey, it's a kind of magic!" = Connor MacLeod "It's better burn out, than to fade away!" = Kurgen I've been alive for four and a half centuries, and I cannot die. = Connor Well, everyone has got their problems = Brenda Prices Amazon = £12.29 Asda = £3.97 Woolworth = £10.99 Play.com = £15.00 VMV = £17.99 Shop.com = £3.99 These are just a few stores where the DVD can be found, as you can see it is varied so look out for a good deal for it! :-) Thank you for reading :-)... WHATS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LAKE
Review of What Lies Beneath (Wide Screen) by  purdy

Advantages: Excellent movie - kept my attention the whole way through
Disadvantages: Quite long

...We rented this video from Xtravision over the weekend – we were having a lazy one so renting a video was easier than going to the cinema! It was a special 2 new releases for 2 nights for £5 – not bad!! I choose What Lies Beneath. Why – l don’t know – Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer are actors of a certain stature and do not usually make bad movies l suppose. It is a Robert Zemeckis film and from what l can gather a bit of a change of style for him – his previous big hits being the likes of Forrest Gump and Back to the Future – both comedy feel good films. Well feel good this ain’t! What lies beneath is a psychological thriller – similar to The hand that rocks the Cradle etc etc. I watched this movie in certain parts with a cushion covering my face and my eyes wide...
