DVD Description
In 48 HOURS, a jaded cop springs a hard luck robber from jail for two days to help nab his former partners. They form a friendship of sorts--based on mutual hatred--as they chase a trio of remorseless villains through the streets of San Francisco. BEVERLY HILLS COP is the comic tale of an over-enthusiastic Detroit cop who travels to Beverly Hills to seek out the murderers of his childhood buddy. In COMING TO AMERICA, a prince sets off for America to find himself a princess, someone with whom he can share his heart... and his considerable fortune. THE GOLDEN CHILD tells the story of an innocent-minded social worker who is told by an exotic foreign woman that his destiny is to save 'The Golden Child', a boy with mystical powers who has been kidnapped by an evil cult... In TRADING PLACES a street hustler and a successful stockbroker find their fortunes reversed as the result of a bet between two commodity traders. At first they scramble to adjust to their new lifestyles, but once they discover the switch played on them, they set out to exact their comic revenge on the execs. In the oversized comedy NORBIT, Murphy dons his fat suit once again to play the title role, a shy and retiring man who's trapped in a loveless marriage with a whale of a woman named Rasputia (also played to comic effect by Murphy). When his childhood love comes back to town, he sees an opportunity for real happiness...
Advantages: The best of Eddie Izzard in just one box! Disadvantages: People spot it and want to borrow it!
...MMVI Eddie Izzard live BoxSet
Unrepeatable, Definate Article, Glorious, Dress to Kill, Circle & Sexie all in one beautiful boxset.
I have one question for starters. Do you like Eddie Izzard?
If the answer is YES! then buy this boxset! It's Eddie at his absolute best with so much choice of what to watch. The shows featured range from 1994 to 2003, although Eddie has been around a lot longer!
Unrepeatable is the very first glimpse we have in this fine selection. Filmed in 1994 and including DVD extras such as an Audio Commentary, Trivia Track, Photo Gallery and a Bleeped Audio Track. The audio tracks are definately worth a listen once you've watched the show properly as its Eddie, seemingly off the cuff making remarks on his own work - classic comedy.
Definate Article is next in the showcase, filmed in 1996...

Advantages: Gripping stories, wonderful acting Disadvantages: the accent can be a bit tricky in some episodes
...I love James Nesbitt and was rather disappointed when Cold Feet came to an end (I bought that boxset too), but he has once again excelled himself with Murphy's Law. The stories revolves round James playing Murphy, an undercover police officer and he takes on some great cases. The first series seemed to go on forever and ever, but I am a bit dissapointed with the following one, as each one is only approx 45-50 minutes long. Series 3 is the same undercover case throughout the whole series, which is the first time they tried that and it worked. The whole set is gripping from start to finish. One of the episodes is set in Northen Ireland and I think some people may find the accents a bit hard to understand, but I just turned the TV up louder and it helped. It is an absolutely thrilling programme and James is definately the star throughout...

Advantages: An aesthetically pleasing collection Disadvantages: Some rather poor inclusions
...A selection of classic Hammer films from the very good to...not so good. An aesthetically pleasing set for fans of the studio, or those wanting at least half of the titles. Features star favourites Peter Cushing, Raquel Welch, Ursula Andress and Christopher Lee (about whom there is an interesting documentary with 'Scars of Dracula').
The extra features vary greatly, the biggest ommission, in my opinion, is the total absence of subtitles for the hearing impaired.
For those who are interested all films are anamorphic, some for the first time, and completely uncut.
My personal favourite was the inclusion of the 1965 film 'The Nanny' which stars a very chilling Bette Davis in a well scripted, and often overlooked role.
Probably a tad overpriced for most, but new DVD versions of individual films are also available, so take...
