Jr's first film is an extraordinary personal account of cross-dressing and a foray into the world of transsexualism, bondage and the sexually confused. Incredibly r...

Advantages: Unique, original, mysterious and deeply heartfelt. Disadvantages: No decent DVD exists as of yet. Oh, and all that "Worst Film Ever" stuff.
these films on their own terms (and I have been as guilty of the Smug as anyone).
Glen Or Glenda is perhaps the quintessential Edward D. Wood Jnr film. More so than Plan 9 From Outer Space, even, Glen Or Glenda seems to have spilled undiluted from Wood's mind onto the screen, with no compromise, no concessions to any "audience demand" standing in the way of the man's vision.
The film tells of both Glen (played by Wood), a closet transvestite (although he does wander the streets in female apparel as "Glenda") and Alan, soon to become Anne following a sex-change operation. The secondary narrative does perhaps stand as SOMETHING of a concession to the studio's demands (Ed was hired to make an exploitation picture called I Changed My Sex, not the deeply personal I Wear Women's Clothing fever-dream that resulted), but the bulk ...

I don?t want to slip into hyperbole when talking about this film, but I really cannot begin to describe how fantastic it is. What?s that? Getting on with the plot would be a good start? Oh, good idea. This film is a true story about the true director Edward J. Wood (Johnny Depp) who is noted as one of the worst directors of all time and maker of some of the worst feature films ever committed to celluloid (only in Hollywood could somebody like EdWood exist ? it even rhymes! This is too good to be true!). Some of the films made by Wood during his thankfully short career include ?Plan 9 From Outer Space?, ?Glen Or Glenda? and ?Bride Of The Monster?. Check them out, I think ?Plan 9?? is available on general release, with the tagline ?the worst movie ever made?. Critical appraisal has got to the point where the films are considered so ...

Advantages: * If you like Tim Burton*Fan of Ed Wood* Disadvantages: *Don't like Black and White Films*
EdWood may have been one of the worst directors ever, but this film definetly shows his drive and passion to get his Films to the big screen. Johnny Depp is fantastic as EdWood, i got so lost in the film by his performance i actually thought he was Edwood. During the film Tim Burton was able to capture almost exact likeness of the films made by EdWood. I found the film quite educating in the world of being a director back in the old days of hollywood. Martin Laudau was precise and convicing as haunting figure of Bela Lugosi (who was famous for playing Dracula) I didn't know much about EdWood before watching the film and after watching it i've become a fan of his work. ...

A curiosity about transvestism and sex changes. Exploitative in its time and filled with sinister characters and spooky settings, the film is a major hoot for today's viewers. Bela plays a ghoulish narrator/puppetmaster who threatens to 'Pull the string!' of helpless mortals.
