Advantages: Funny series, made before political correctness etc...! Disadvantages: No extras, original recording a bit rough and ready.
..., thick spectacle wearing factory worker Stan Hardman (played by Joe Gladwin). He appears in every episode (and also in the Nearest and Dearest feature film) as either a factory worker or "Head of Transport" i.e. He drives the horse and cart plus mucks out the stable. Stan's colleagues, Bert and Grenville, also appear fairly regularly.
Various other "Ponging Picklers" are seen throughout the series when there are factory scenes involved.
Series two (and all the other series of N & D) are based on gritty northern humour, heavy with double entendres, innuendo, political incorrectness and sexism. This "seaside postcard" humour was normal for the time though, and in my opinion just adds to its charm.
THE DVD
This DVD produced by Network DVD in association with Granada Ventures, contains the entire second series of Nearest and Dearest...

Advantages: Entertaining 4 all Disadvantages: not enough SG1 referals
...Great Season with lots of action and suspence, i will review each eposode so you can read and make your own mind up on the whole DVD.
ok Action
2.1: The Siege: Part III
I think the addition of the Daedalus (new pucker ship) to the series will be a good thing. "SG-1" was always introducing new technology to the mix as the series went on, and having something bigger than a puddle jumper around is going to come in handy. It also adds an "outside" military presence to the series, which ought to play nicely against the group led by Sheppard. There are now several groups with very different levels of experience with the Wraith and the status quo of the Pegasus Galaxy, and that ought to be fun.
The battle against the 12 Hive Ships was a great showcase for the special effects, and I'm glad the situation wasn't resolved so easily...

Advantages: No compromise, hilarious, cartman, refreshingly non-pc Disadvantages: depends on your standpoint..bad language, politically incorrect, dubious subject matter, childish
..., this is not a series for you. It has to be said at this point that series 2 is actually less controversial (even) than topics covered in other South Park dvds and storylines.
THE PACKAGE
''
South Park series 2 consists of 4 dvds in a neat box set, labelled volume 4, 5, 6 and 7 (following on from the volumes in the dvd package for the first series). For those that appreciate it, the set is in the same design and package as the preceding series and the following three. It is very well put together, with the feel of a quality product despite the garish colours and whatever your opinion of the actual series happens to be. By this I mean that the box is sturdy with all the episodes, plus an accompanying synopsis, listed clearly by volume.
The whole of the series is here (6 hours, 36 minutes) - consisting of 18...
