Early Roots DVD

Advantages: comprehensive serial on early American Slave problems
Disadvantages: you should set aside a lot of time as you will want to watch it all at once

...This is something else..Over 9 hours of classic television history, from 1976/77. This series contains a cast to drool over, and is faithfully translated on to DVD from the TV series, and is massively better than the early VHS release. This study of Slavery as seen through the eyes of one family throughout the generations is excellent viewing and for 3 DVDs containing over 9 hours of brilliant imagery, this is a must for any serious movie collector. From the early capture of the African slave (played by LeVar Burton), we are treated to views of slavery too brutal and yet realistic, to ignore. With a cast containing such notaries as, Edward Asner, Cicely Tyson, John Amos, Lorne Greene, Sandy Duncan, Lloyd Bridges, Louis Gossett Jnr and Ben Vereen to name just a few, this is a blockbuster in every sense. ...The regulars are back for another series of six spectacular episodes! For the benefit of those who don't know what early doors is this is for you: Early doors is set in a small cosy pub somewhere in the north of England .The pub goes by the name of The Grapes. Where everyday as the clock strikes five-thirty the regulars (all 5 of them!) arrive and whinge about there miserable lives together (don't let this put you off though!). The grapes is the home to some truly magnificent characters that have all been hand crafted to create the perfect character. ************************** Nothing much has changed in the Grapes in its year's absence, but saying that not much would change in the Grapes in a 20 year absence. ...concert footage was shot at Squeeze in Ft Lauderdale, USA. The official line up during this time was; Marilyn Manson: Vocals Daisy Berkowitz: Guitar Madonna wayne Gacy (A.K.A Pogo): Keyboard Gidget Gein: Bass The footage is as good quality as you would expect from an early gig and the not quite crystal clear quality gives it more of an atmosphere. The sound quality is also good. Marilyn Manson has always put on a good show and this is yet another example. The showmanship is visible even when the gig starts and he is sitting down.
