Advantages: Sean Connery still has a fountain of charisma ; Great Villain ; A much better Felix Leighter than the original ; Much more humour than usual Connery offerings Disadvantages: Sean Connery looks dated ; A tired 80's re-make of the classic Thunderball film ; Farfetched plot ; Poor Bond girls ; Practically every notable element of the Bond saga is absent
...of mesmerizing special effects. It's as if for instance you've been on holiday to a place abroad as a kid and had the time of your life, yet when you return when you're older, its just not the same. Connery has still got it though certainly, to me along with Cary Grant he is the most charismatic British actor, and now Daniel Craig is comparable with his smashing acting and charm. The start of the film is a typical training simulation, similar to that of other Bond films i.e. Die Another Day. Bond has to subdue an enemy fortress and rescue the captive girl, all to a cheesy yet fresh 80's pop song hehe. Then after the girl, who apparently developed Stockholm Syndrome kills him, he undergoes a vigorous routine at Shrublands, from Thunderball. And of course the plot is comparable with Thunderball. Two nuclear missiles and not bombs this time round...

Advantages: A fairly decent story, some good ideas Disadvantages: Not going to win any awards, there are better films in this genre out there
...It’s strange how movies seem to vanish from sight just before they are released in the cinema. I’d heard a lot about Taking Lives, with Jolie and Hawke apparently having off screen liaisons, well according to the Sun. When it came to the film actually being released I didn’t notice it at the cinema and it wasn’t until the DVD release that I even remembered reading about it. So the other night I decided, as there was nothing on Tele as usual, to stick it in the DVD player and see if it was any good.
The film begins in the 80’s with two guys trying to get Seattle when the bus breaks down. Rather than wait around they agree to split the cost of a rental car. After a while the car gets a puncture and whilst trying to fix it, one of the guys pushes the other in-front of an oncoming van. He steals his wallet and makes sure the guy is dead...

Advantages: Wide view of Picture as intended for cinemas Disadvantages: Unsuitable view for Portable DVD's
...The third and final part (as of yet) of the Die Hard series and Bruce Willis is back this time alongside Samuel L Jackson.
This Widescreen version is suitable for anyone who's television set as the ability to show widescreen pictures. With this you can see more of the film has it was intended to be seen at the cinema. Sometimes films are cut to fit onto standard screen sizes. The film is probably the best of the three films and Jackson gives Willis a run for his money in the action scenes.
The Villian played by Jeremy Irons although not as good has Alan Rickman in the first Die Hard film does an excellent potrayal of a German villian. If you are a fan of the series but have only watched them on television (with adverts betwween) then go and purchase this film and see how it was intended to be seen....
