The 2002 rerelease of E.T., which marks 20 years since the film's 1982 debut, includes never before seen footage, enhanced visual effects, and a new remastered soundtrack.
E.T....
more...THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL is Steven Spielberg's warmhearted classic delight for both children and adults. It tells the story of an alien creature, E.T., mistakenly left behind on Earth. When a young boy, Elliott (Henry Thomas), finds E.T. and hides him in his home, both their worlds are changed forever. E.T. teaches Elliott and his two siblings (Drew Barrymore and Robert MacNaughton), whose parents have recently separated, about caring and love while the children protect E.T. from the malevolent world of grown-ups. Elliott and E.T. become so close that they share emotions; as E.T. becomes ill, so does Elliott. The children end up going on a fabulous adventure trying to help E.T. find a way back to his home planet. The movie was originally going to be based on a story idea by director John Sayles, but after he removed himself from the project, screenwriter Melissa Mathison (Harrison Ford's former wife) took over the script and made it her own. John Williams's beautiful soundtrack became forever linked to E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL.

Well this week I went out to ASDA and while looking at there somewhat wide DVD collection I cam upon E.T and to top it all off its Special Edition.

I took it to the till instantly and paid for it then left to store to go home. When arriving home I read the back of the DVD and then placed one of the two disk special edition DVD into the DVD player. From then on I was trapped into the wonder charm of E.T which still is as good as it ever was. The movie has remastered which makes it even better. E.T was released on June 11th 1982 which makes this classic now 23 years old.

For those of you who do not know of E.T or have never watched it. Then here's a little information E.T is a small lost alien who comes to earth and is found by a young boy who takes him home to look after him although his brother and sister's are at first terrified of E.T they learn to love him and throughout the movie you to get to love him and see the magic that has fallen into so many hearts.

*DISK 1*
So by now ive finished watching the movie and before I decide to take and disk one I check to see what else it contains beside the movie and scene selection. Disk one also contains:
-Isolated John Williams live music score
Which is the theme tune to E.T. Along with the music score there is also:
-Introduction by Steven Spielberg.
And by selecting this Spielberg will introduce the movie and speak about it before it begins.

*DISK 2*
I finally place disk one back into its case and take out disk two. After placing it into the DVD player and waiting for it to load it eventually comes on and I am delighted by the extra's that are held within disk two:
-The evolution and creation of E.T
This show's you how they designed and made the character we all love today.
-The music of John Williams
Which by reading the title pretty mush tell's you what it is.
-The reunion of cast and filmmakers
I loved this because the cast and crew meet up again after so long it's brilliant.
-The 20th Anniversary premier.
Here you can see the premier for the 20 year release of E.T.
-Photograph montage
Here you can see all the photographs and designs even the marketing used for E.T
-Space exploration.
Now this had me in stitches. By pressing this is will come up with the solar system and by using you DVD remote you have to click one the desired planets and then E.T himself explains to you what it is and what its like its very, very funny.
-E.T theatrical trailer
Which shows you the trailer for the movie and the Ubisoft E.T game. Also a trailer for the Back to the Future DVD is included.
-DVD features
By placing this into your pc and having the internet enabled you can enter the Universal Total Access website where you can see never before seen footage, trailers and a whole lot more extra's.

*Packaging*
The usual sized DVD case shows a picture of E.T and the boy touching fingers with a bright light between them. And in the back ground shows the very memorable scene of E.T and the boy flying across the moon in the boys push bike. The spine show's the same image as the front but smaller. The front and spine of this DVD also show the words E.T The Extra Terrestrial near the bottom of the front and in the centre of the spine. The Back cover however shows various pictures throughout the movie and also contains the information found on Disk one and Disk two it also contains a small amount of information about the movie and the age rating. Along with the names of all the cast and crew located towards the bottom of the back cover. The Disks inside a not too similar as Disk 1 show the fingers touching again and the boy and E.T on the bike flying across the moon with the words E.T The Extra Terrestrial at the top of the disk. Disk two simply displays a night sky and has the words E.T The Extra Terrestrial never the top and various company logos at the bottom.

I purchased this as you all know from ASDA at I think a brilliant price of £9.99 but on entering various other store I have seen this DVD for £9.99 to £13.99 which still isn't too bad. You can buy this DVD from most stores that sell DVD's such as Woolworth's, Virgin, Hmv, Blockbuster etc. To all of those who have loved this movie and still do not own it for yourselves I recommend you go out and buy this it truly is a Magical DVD.
