Tobey Maguire was not the first choice to play Peter Parker (Leonardo Di Caprio was, but he turned it down to star in the upcoming films 'catch me if you can' and 'gangs of new york' both out in january) but he plays the role as good as anyone could. After the success of film franchises like X Men and Blade it was only a matter of time before spiderman hit the big screen and after it became such a massive hit it has inspired more film studios to bring more superheroes to the cinema e.g. The Hulk 2003,Daredevil 2003 as well as Spiderman 2 due out in may 2004.
