..."VanGogh" DVD directed by Maurice Pialat. Production year 1991. Classification 15 years and over.
I love films from other countries and I enjoyed this one very much.
It is a dramatization of Vincent VanGogh's life, the Post Impressionist painter. It is not an attempt to depict the whole of his life but rather a part of it.
There are other VanGogh films out there and this one joins them as another interpretation that has it's own distinct flavour and and yet shares the similar merits of valuing this great artist.
VanGogh is played by actor Jacques Dutronc and his performance is a good and I thought a non stereo-typical VanGogh. The only problem with that is if you have as I do a strong idea of what Vincent VanGogh might be like you may feel at times in the film that that he's not playing him correctly. But I felt...

Advantages: Re-Mastered release. Extra footage, audio commentray, scene development, screen tests, excellent effects Disadvantages: poor acting in places, predictable.
...An all new re-mastered edition of one of the last great action movies of the last century. Starship Troopers sees a bunch of teenage Beverly Hills 90210 wannabes go head to head with some of the nastiest creatures to grace the screen since Ridley Scot brought us the Alien back in 1979. Coming from the talented hands of Dutch director Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Basic Instinct) and Academy Award winning special effects artist Phil Tippet (The Empire Strikes...

Advantages: Brilliant script writing that keeps the film flowing. Disadvantages: Wish I had a personal assistant...
...Introduction -
My friend Tim introduced to the film, he clearly had a misconception about what University (English version of College) would be like, turns out his false ideas all spawned from one film, Van Wilder: Part liaison. The film was released in 2002 as a comedy and was directed by Walt Beckers.
The lead male role is played by Ryan Reynolds, an at the time fairly new actor who has since continued to play similar comedy based roles in films such as 'Just Friends'. Tara Reid plays the lead female role, best know for her performances in the American Pie films and Cruel Intentions.
Plot -
The film starts as it means to go on, we see Vance (Van) Wilder (Ryan Reynolds) standing with an old Chinese lady kneeling down in front of him, but we only see the top half of her head. Accompanying this rather suggestive scene are some...
