People Get ready - The Voice is Back!

Advantages: Great Easy Listening CD
Disadvantages: Last Song personally is depressing!

After seeing this CD advertised on the TV last night and being somewhat a fan of Russell Watson I decided today that I would treat myself and so I bought it. I am very pleased with my purchase as this is a lovely easy listening CD. The cover of the CD is white and has a picture of Russell standing to the right hand side and the title in white lettering on the arm section of his picture. The back cover of the CD has a picture again of Russell standing with a microphone to the left hand side and the track list in black to the right hand side. The tracks on 'People Get Ready' are:- 1. Me and Mrs Jones - This track has a swing feel to it and is a very well know song which he does sing very well and has kept to the original version instead of trying to make it different and spoiling such a good song. Get Ready

Advantages: Some superb tracks with very thought-provoking lyrics
Disadvantages: A couple of slightly 'iffy' tracks

. Russell has become known as the ?People?s Tenor? but has also suffered a lot of critical opposition from those who believe that his untrained voice is not up to operatic standards. Russell himself however is not bothered by the criticism believing that he has transcended the bickering and helped bring about a classical crossover that didn?t exist before. Russell?s 8th studio album ? People Get Ready ? is the album I am now going to review and is a mixture of soul music, rock and easy listening. Track 1 ? Me and Mrs Jones ?Mr and Mrs Jones? has a very soulful feeling from the very beginning and the backing track must get the initial credit for this. Dusty - Dusty Springfield

Advantages: A lively, upbeat album which is tautly compiled, including all the great hits.
Disadvantages: Lacks maybe one or two key songs. Album a little long.

This album was compiled a few years before Dusty Springfield died of cancer in the 1990s, relaunching all of her hits onto a modern audience as well as allowing older audiences to relive her greatness. It is a fantastic disc for loyal fans of Dusty who want all of her hits on one disc, as well as a perfect gateway for new fans who want a taste of her music. Many of her well-known songs are here, including 'I Only Wanna Be With You', 'You Don't Have to Say You Love Me', 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself', 'The Look of Love' and 'Son of a Preacher Man'. It also includes 'What Have I Done To Deserve This', Dusty's collaboration track with the Pet Shop Boys, and the album as a whole provides a variety of upbeat and mellow tracks, making it a perfect soundtrack all year round.
