...---All About The Film---
Dumbo was the 4th Disney animated classic and was first released onto the big screen in 1941, surprisingly it has never received any awards (from what I can tell), except to be Walt Disney's favourite. Right that's the mini history lesson over time to talk about the film…
The simple but effective animation used in this film engages the viewer (young and old) from the very first scene as the circus rolls into town. As the ... ...able to empathise with, as Dumbo is ridiculed, separated from his mother and generally treated as an outcast. But with the help of his only friend Timothy Mouse can Dumbo discover that what others see as a disfigurement could actually be a blessing, and that being different is not necessarily a bad thing? As the story unfolds we are treated to one of the best Disney soundtracks with such classics as "Pink Elephants On Parade" which is accompanied ...

Advantages: An Alltime favourite Disadvantages: ^_^
...is set in the circus. Dumbo is an amazing elephant with huge ears that tend to get him into even more trouble than his little mouse friend. Hes bullied by all the other elephants and treaded as an outsider, I think if you love Disney then you will love Dumbo as its one of the all time favourites and classics.
As dumbo grows up you begin to see him slowly get accepted by the other elephants. A fantastic and moving story... Don't be afraid to shed ...

Advantages: stunning effects family film Disadvantages: short dialogue
...Looking after the grandchildren over the xmas period, and trying to keep then occupied,I decided to put a disney film on.
It was the wonderful classic Dumbo.
This animated Walt Disney film I feel is one of the best that Disney made. It took its makers about a year and a half to achieve all the special effects in its creation.
Set in the circus life, a very simple tale is told (one of being different (disabled) )Dumbo is a baby elephant who has been born with large ears. Being different to the other elephants he is disowned by then and his mother is turned away also.Dumbo does make a friend timothy ( a mouse)and a singing group of comical crows. They help to chear dumbo up. We find in this film that the dialogue is very short. Dumbo really speaks although his mother sings a very nice song called "baby mine". The people in the film seem...

Advantages: A Disney Film, cute characters, Disadvantages: Some sad bits. ( which even had me crying)
...FILM: Dumbo (1941)
Try to imagine a world without Walt Disney. A world without his magic, whimsy, and optimism, a world without seeing DUMBO.
From the time that Walt first read the galleys for the story, he knew it would make a fine film. Coming after two expensive movies ("Fantasia" and "Pinocchio") the previous year, "Dumbo" was made for only $812,000, partly because it was able to move very quickly through the animation department given its succinct story and clearcut characters. With such a low cost, the film made a welcome profit for the Studio. "Dumbo" had been scheduled for the cover of "Time" magazine at the time of its general release in December 1941, but a much more momentous event occurred -- the bombing of Pearl Harbor -- and poor "Dumbo" was supplanted by Japanese General Yamamoto.

Director(s): Ben Sharpsteen
Genre: Family
Classification: Universal
Running Time: 1 hour 4 minutes
Video Category: Feature Film
Plot: Deceptively simple, beautiful, moving, and hilarious, DUMBO is often overlooked when considering Disney's greatest films because perhaps of its lack of extravagance, its brief running time, and its simple story. Baby elephant Jumbo Jr. is delivered by the stork to his elephant mom with much fanfare but soon receives a cold shoulder from the snobby female pachyderms and the rest of the circus due to his oversize ears. When his mother goes on a rampage in order to protect him from some snickering rubes, she winds up locked away. Dumbo is left without a friend in the world until the street-smart Timothy Mouse decides to become his manager and a telephone line full of delightful jive-talking crows convince him he can fly. Highlights include Dumbo accidentally getting drunk and experiencing the surreal musical sequence Pink Elephants on Parade and a soundtrack packed with such priceless songs as the Oscar-winning Baby Mine and the crow's soulful number, When I see an Elephant Fly. There's nary an imperfect moment to be found in this raucous, tender, sublime film, which has been delighting audiences for generations.
