...story of a baby elephant, Dumbo who after being delivered to his mother by a manic stork is found to have the biggest ears imaginable. His mother is a star in a travelling circus and the situation leads to a wonderful series of adventures and routines which are superb.
Dumbo is horribly ridiculed by a bitchy bunch of other cow elephants and in the subsequent scenes Dumbos mother is taken to be separate from her baby. Cue much sadness but soon Dumbo ... ...the fire. The mouse gives Dumbo a feather to wave to try to make him fly but Dumbo drops it. Seemingly doomed to be a squashed elephant he swoops around courtesy of his huge ears.
The film has some wonderful pieces in it. The train which pulls the circus around has character as it hauls the weight around. The setting up of the big top during a storm is done in a wonderfully expressive way. Characters like the she elephants all have characters as ...

Advantages: A Disney Film, cute characters, Disadvantages: Some sad bits. ( which even had me crying)
FILM: Dumbo (1941)
Try to imagine a world without Walt Disney. A world without his magic, whimsy, and optimism, a world without seeing DUMBO.
From the time that Walt first read the galleys for the story, he knew it would make a fine film. Coming after two expensive movies ("Fantasia" and "Pinocchio") the previous year, "Dumbo" was made for only $812,000, partly because it was able to move very quickly through the animation department given its ... ...help of a "magic feather, Dumbo has the courage to take a leap of faith that turns the taunting into cheers, and makes all his dreams soar. ~*~*~*~*MY BEST BIT OF THE FILM~*~*~*~
My best bit of the film would have to be when Jumbo sneezes, and his enormous ears unfold, his little cute face with these enormous ears, I had to laugh.
~*~This magic film is 64 min long ( time not wasted at all)

Advantages: An Oldish Disney Classic Disadvantages: None!
...get the best buy.
Dumbo is the story of of an Elephant, who huge ears make him a mockery amongst the other circus elephants and land his Mother in "jail" when she becomes aggressive in her defence of her son. This leaves Dumbo as an outcast, with no friends and worse than that; he is put in with the clowns in the circus rather than the elephants. His only real companion is a friendly little mouse, who looks after him and adivses him throughout the ... ...for those of you (a minority, I am sure) who have not yet seen it, it becomes apparent that Dumbo's ears enable him to fly. He begins flying with a magic feather held in his trunk, but finds himself able to to do so without the feather when needs must.
I don't want to give away too much of the story so I'll go through the high points with you!
HIGH POINTS:
The Characters: these are some of the best characters Disney have created. The crows/vultures ...

...She is locked away, and Dumbo is not allowed to see her. A small miracle occurs........... A mouse called Timothy befriends Dumbo, and looks after him. He finds where his mother is, and takes Dumbo to see her. Timothy gets the ringmaster of the circus to put Dumbo in his act with the clowns, and maddness ensues. There is an incident where Dumbo and Timothy get drunk, and see pink elephants on parade, and Dumbo is given a magic feather by Timothy. ... ...him.
When diving from the high tower, he loses the magic feather, and almost crashes to the ground, but Timothy is sitting on him, and he says the magic feather is a lie, and saves the day. If I tell you any more, there will be no point you watching it. Well, will leave you to it for now.

Advantages: Great film | Fantastic Songs | Extra Aren't Bad Either Disadvantages: Youngest Son Is Obsessed
...As I was organising my Disney DVDs the other day, I re-discovered a classic that had been hidden from a very obsessed little boy (who's on the autistic spectrum and would watch it 4 or 5 times in a row). That classic was Dumbo, a relatively short film that I count as one of the best Disney animations. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view), the little boy saw the film in my hand, and demanded that we put "Bumbo" on for about the thousandth time. So I thought it was as good a time as any for me to share my thoughts on this classic animation with you…..
---All About The Film---
Dumbo was the 4th Disney animated classic and was first released onto the big screen in 1941, surprisingly it has never received any awards (from what I can tell), except to be Walt Disney's favourite. Right that's the mini history...

Advantages: An Alltime favourite Disadvantages: ^_^
...I remeber as a child watching this on VHS with a poor picture - but look at it now. A must have for all the big and little kids.
This film is set in the circus. Dumbo is an amazing elephant with huge ears that tend to get him into even more trouble than his little mouse friend. Hes bullied by all the other elephants and treaded as an outsider, I think if you love Disney then you will love Dumbo as its one of the all time favourites and classics.
As dumbo grows up you begin to see him slowly get accepted by the other elephants. A fantastic and moving story... Don't be afraid to shed a little tear for Dumbo.
No childrens collection is complete without dumbo.
Dumbo was the 4th Disney animated classic and was first released onto the big screen in 1941 and now its back. And its better than ever before....

DVD Description
Deceptively simple, beautiful, moving, and hilarious, DUMBO is often overlooked when considering Disney's greatest films because perhaps of its lack of extravagance, its brief running time, and its simple story. Baby elephant Jumbo Jr. is delivered by the stork to his elephant mom with much fanfare but soon receives a cold shoulder from the snobby female pachyderms and the rest of the circus due to his oversize ears. When his mother goes on a rampage in order to protect him from some snickering rubes, she winds up locked away. Dumbo is left without a friend in the world until the street-smart Timothy Mouse decides to become his manager and a telephone line full of delightful jive-talking crows convince him he can fly. Highlights include Dumbo accidentally getting drunk and experiencing the surreal musical sequence Pink Elephants on Parade and a soundtrack packed with such priceless songs as the Oscar-winning Baby Mine and the crow's soulful number, When I See an Elephant Fly. There's nary an imperfect moment to be found in this raucous, tender, sublime film, which has been delighting audiences for generations.
