Lowbrow buffoonery hit commercial highs with 1994's DUMB AND DUMBER. This prequel to the slapstick favorite imagines the immortal meeting of the mindless when Harry Dunne (Derek...

Unfortunately, this class is not a radical educational experiment. Rather, it's a moneymaking scheme exploiting Harry and Lloyd's intellectual deficiencies. The conniving Principal Collins (Eugene Levy) has singled out the two clowns to boost special needs enrollment--a scam to bring more educational funds to the school. Collins plans to use those funds to supplement an exotic vacation with his mistress, the lunch lady Mrs. Heller (Cheri Oteri). When Mrs. Heller is put in charge of the class, a news staff student, Jessica (Rachel Nichols), begins to investigate. Using the witless duo for inside information, Jessica becomes an oblivious object of affection for her sources Harry and Lloyd.

I never really wanted to see this film when the trailers were being shown in the cinema. I had seen Dumb and Dumber like most people had but by adding 'er' onto the end of dumber I just thought what quick money idea has been thought of now. I hate when prequels and sequels are done so I avoided this for a long time.

When at my friend's house the other week however we were watching films and she picked out this saying it was funny so I just decided to go ahead and watch it while my other friend was saying she didn't want to watch it because it would probably be stupid and not funny. However my friend won the argument and we started to watch this film.

This film begins with a black screen and a hole in which we see a doctor's face and him saying that the baby is nearly out so now you know what the hole in the screen is. We keep seeing the doctor talking until finally a baby is born. This is Harry being born and then we see him growing up through the years and even when younger he still has his silly blonde shoulder lengthed hair up until high school where we get to.

We are then introduced to Lloyd who is the younger Jim Carrey character and he looks just as stupid as him. He lives in the school he goes to because his dad is a janitor. We know he is stupid right away when we see his morning routine and then him saying he has to rush out or he'll miss the school bus which shows his stupidity considering he lives at the school. Harry is experiencing his first day at school because he was always homeschooled up until now but his mum wants him to mix with others his age. This film is set in 1986 and the fashion in this film is terrible.

While on the way Harry is walking down the street when Llod sees his bus coming and makes a run thinking he'll miss it and as he does so he crashes right into Harry. When they get up Harry has a piece of Lloyd's tooth stuck to his head and Lloyd has a chipped tooth and this is the beginning of their friendship. They go to school together while Lloyd explains how 'cool' he is and points out everyone when really he is not well liked but is too dumb to realise he is being made fun of.

The whole point of this film is that the school headteacher is having a fling with the dinner lady and together they want a house in Hawaii. A man in the country who is in charge of setting up special needs schools will currently give anyone running a special needs class £100,000 for having a class. So, they just need to set up a special needs class. The headteacher played by Eugene Levy then says the famous words "Where can we find kids who would pass for special needs" and then looks out of his window where Lloyd and Harry are strung up onto a pole like fools.

So the dinner lady and headteacher Principal Collins approach them and ask them to be in the class which they go to. Ms Heller the dinner lady runs the class and asks Harry & Lloyd to find more students to go into the class. Easily they find their recruits. A boy with crutches who they think is denying his illness? a boy dressed as a horse for a play who they think is a half boy/half horse, a chinese student who they think is foreign and qualifies for the class and so on until the class is complete. It isn't hard to persuade people to be in the class they just turn up every day, do no work and this is their year plan.

The whole point is that they have to find out what Principal Collins & Ms.Heller are up to. Although this film may be immature to some I would say do not go see this if you hate stupid humour and do not like Dumb and Dumber. The humour is pretty immature but if you are looking for a laugh see this.

The acting of the two was ok considering they were living up to Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels they were spot on really with the same mannerisms. This film does have a story line which was more than I expected and the actors do their best with what they are given. There are some really funny parts in this film. I personally thought the bathroom chocolate seen was funny but you will have to watch this to understand what I mean.

This film is a 12 certificate and can be bought at all online DVD stores.
