Having seen this film, I feel it is a bit of a let-down. The first film, Dumb and Dumber, was a childish, hilarious masterpiece. Dumb and Dumberer just doesn't live up to expectations.

I went to see the film on the basis that the trailer looked funny as hell. It was a nice bit of editing. What I saw is exactly what I got and nothing more. The content of the film has the same amount of substance as the 1 minute trailer.

The subtitle of this prequel,'When Harry met Lloyd', does indicate the forming of a relationship. But the emotion in this film is nowhere to be seen. It is all based on the gags which are few and far between: I recall laughing about five times through its whole duration of it.

I don't want to spoil the film, but I will just spell out the plot in a bit more detail than a synopsis would:

Harry meets Lloyd. They go to school and join a new special needs class. They instantly meet a girl at school that wants a juicy story for some reason. The principal is a bit corrupt. Lloyd finds some incriminating evidence against the principal. The girl gets her story because the principal gets busted for running and phoney special needs class.

So, it does lack depth. The acting is exactly right for the film and cannot be faulted. The exclusion of Jim Carrey in the cast may have had an impact on the final result, but I'm hoping the film he was working on at the time, Bruce Almighty, shows the talent that could have been present in this film.

In summary: It contains only a couple of gags that don't make up for the weak plot. I wouldn't recommend it.
