Lowbrow buffoonery hit commercial highs with 1994's DUMB AND DUMBER. This prequel to the slapstick favorite imagines the immortal meeting of the mindless when Harry Dunne (Derek...
more...Richardson) and Lloyd Christmas (Eric Christian Olsen) were high schoolers. After becoming fast friends, the pair of future dog groomers are recruited for a special needs class. Unfortunately, this class is not a radical educational experiment. Rather, it's a moneymaking scheme exploiting Harry and Lloyd's intellectual deficiencies. The conniving Principal Collins (Eugene Levy) has singled out the two clowns to boost special needs enrollment--a scam to bring more educational funds to the school. Collins plans to use those funds to supplement an exotic vacation with his mistress, the lunch lady Mrs. Heller (Cheri Oteri). When Mrs. Heller is put in charge of the class, a news staff student, Jessica (Rachel Nichols), begins to investigate. Using the witless duo for inside information, Jessica becomes an oblivious object of affection for her sources Harry and Lloyd.

I went to the pictures last night and decided to watch this film, the first dumb and dumber was a right laugh so i thought this would be the same.
It starts when Harry and Lloyd meet when they are going to the same high school ( Lloyd`s dad is the janitor of the school so he has access to the whole school). The principal is a crook and reckons if he can set up a special needs class he will be able to get a grant and then he will have enough money to run off with his girlfriend (the dinner lady) and live a luxurious life.
Lloyd and Harry are the star candidates for the class as they are real no brainers and the teacher ( who incidentally is the dinner lady) tells them that they are so special they can pick the rest of the class, so they do.
There is not a very great story line but i have to admit there were some laughs in it.
The special needs class is top priority for the school journalist and she befriends Harry and Lloyd to try and find out what is going on.
Lloyd being the son of the janitor is a god send because the journalist asks him to get the keys to the principals office to have a snoop.
She finds nothing but makes a mess so asks Lloyd to tidy it up, on tidying he comes across a chest and him being so dumb he thinks it is a treasure chest so he takes it to Harry immediately.
They opened it to their disappointment as it was just papers and tapes and photos.
They decide to make a float dedicated to the principal for being such a good guy ( there is an oncoming gala day) when they arrive on there float they play one of the tapes (from the chest) across the loudspeakers which contains incriminating evidence about the principal, which leads to his arrest.
That is the moral of the story, a few laughs but i would not recommend going to see it.
Harry and Lloyd are played by different actors than in the first film but Lloyd bears a striking resemblence to Jim Carrey
