Even more incredible than a career spanning over four decades is the fact that he has remained a successfully artist, reinventing himself and his music time and time again. 'The Best Of Bowie' documents his career from his Ziggy Stardust image, through to the Thin White Duke persona and into the more relaxed and casual manner seen in recent years.
The DVD features the video's of some of Bowie's most successful songs, as well as plenty of archive and live footage from show's such the Old Grey Whistle Test', 'Top Of The Pops' and similar shows.
The videos are ordered chronologically, starting with the earliest and working forward from there. Some of the earlier videos do look a little dated by today's standards and none have been remastered, but overall the video-quality is good...

We are then suddenly left with relative silence as the stunningly beautiful Satine is lowered from the ceiling on a swing to perform Diamonds are a girls best friend. During this number she mistankenly assumes that Christian our penniless writer is a rich and powerful Duke and seduces him (not that this was ever going to be hard work). However, there is a problem. As Satine goes back up into the rafters on her swing she becomes out of breath and falls form a great hight. Our first sign that all is not well.
Christian goes to meet Satine after the show to "Read her his poetry" which she takes as a metaphor for love making thinking the way that only a courtesan could. To stop her bizarre and at some points cringe worthy attempts to have sex he blurts out a song, Your Song by Elton John, which blows her away...

...when he mistreats his girlfriend & partner stan, driving them both away from him.
Much more interesting than Apocalypse now, I rate 8/10
