Disadvantages:	In my research i saw some bad comments about it not being true to the cartoon, and some people hate it .   It's one of them love it or hate it things !

I wasn’t alive in 1969, but there was a cartoon called The Dudly Do-Right Show. Then, in 1999, a film called Dudly Do-right was created from the cartoon. Now, as I’d never heard of it before, I did my research and the cartoon was kind of like Penellopy Pitstop, you know, the girl, a baddy, some good guys and a train track, that usual sort of stuff.

The movie is set in the Canadian Rockies where Dudley Do-Right is a Mountie. Now, when you think of Mountie, you think of programmes like Due South, and I could never really get into them so when this video arrived in the post (I won it in a competition) it stayed in the envelope for five days because I really wasn’t interested in watching it. Big mistake. The movie opens with laughter, ends with laughter and is filled up to the brim with laughter. In case you haven’t got where I’m going yet, this movie is very very very funny. I fell off my bed from laughing at one point.

~ The Plot ~

The evil Snidely Whiplash is out to rule at least a corner of the world and so, after taking over Semi-Happy Valley and renamimg it Whiplash Town, he sets about trying to convince the town that there is gold in an old abonded mine, causing a massive gold rush to the area. The situation gets out of control and so Dudly is fired and about to lose the girl of his dreams (Nell) to the enemy (Snidely) Dudley gets ready to kick some major arse. He becomes a masked man on a mission, setting out on his motorcycle to defeat the villain, win the heart of the fair maiden and bring peace back to Semi-Happy Valley.
Ok, so the plot sounds fairly stereotypical, which is one of the reasons why I put off watching it, but the way the story is presented is excellent. There is a witty and sarcastic voice-over throughout the film, which is very funny, and there’s lots of gags, (Watch out for the Riverdance, Dudly’s first bad deed and ERIC IDLE). Did I mention Eric Idle? Oh, and Dudly’s horse, named Horse, is so funny, I want it!
The comedy also works on two levels. I watched this movie with four children (Aged 10, 9 and 5, with the attention span of 10 seconds) and two older brothers (Aged 23 and 27, attention span of 2 seconds) and every one of them laughed. They all sat still and shut up until the end of the movie too which was amazing.

What more do I need to say, with that list of cast! Eric Idle is hilarious of course, Fraser is cute but funny and I give Parker more credit for her acting skills then I used to.

~ Design ~

The set is beautiful and colourful, kind of cartoon like, which really adds to the story and the costumes are great. The bright colours also make the movie more enjoyable to children too, the film would not work if every thing was in pastel colours. It was filmed in Canada (Of course) which gives it that authentic feel!

~ DVD Extras ~

Production Notes, Cast and Filmaker's Notes, Theatrical Trailer, and DVD-Rom Featurette. Not too great really, I’d want more to buy it on DVD, although I might have considered it if I hadn’t already won it.

~ Overall ~

The movie is really funny, but if you’re not sure about spender a tenner on it (Or £19 for DVD) rent it. If you love it, then buy it because you’re going to want to watch it more than once. That’s my opinion anyway, and I didn’t even want to watch it in the first place.
