considerable charm Brendan Fraser displayed inGeorge of the JungleandThe Mummyis much needed. The first half of the movie lays out the basic elements of the cartoon (none-too-bright Canadian Mountie battles melodramatic villain Snidely Whiplash with pluck and dumb luck) with little wit or imagination, but lots of pratfalls and broad gags. But about halfway into it, when Whiplash has taken over the town of Semi-Happy Falls and become its leading citizen, the movie takes a curious turn: since Whiplash has become, to all appearances, a good guy, Dudley decides the only way to fight him is to turn into a bad guy. Next thing you know, Dudley is decked out in black leather and cruising around on a motorbike while Whiplash fumes impotently. Fans who are familiar with the original US TV seriesBullwinklefrom whichDudleyoriginated may decry this departure, but it gives the movie a much-needed burst of energy and the opportunity for some entertainingly surreal images--like Whiplash up to his neck in a mud bath with cucumber slices on his eyes, consulting with his henchmen about dealing with that unpredictable Do-Right. The film also features Alfred Molina, Sarah Jessica Parker andMonty Python's Eric Idle. --Bret Fetzer, Amazon.com
Further back is Snidley Whiplash. At the top it says "Dudley Do-Right of The Mounties" This poster measures approx. 24" x 36" Dudley Do-Right was the eponymous hero of a segment on The Bullwinkle Show which parodied early 20th century melodrama and silent film. Dudley Do-Right was a Canadian Mountie who was always trying to catch his nemesis Snidely Whiplash, invariably without success. He romantically pursued Nell Fenwick, the daughter of the head of the Mountie station.

Advantages: It's funny, clever and the acting is great! Disadvantages: In my research i saw some bad comments about it not being true to the cartoon, and some people hate it. It's one of them love it or hate it things!
...in the Canadian Rockies where Dudley Do-Right is a Mountie. Now, when you think of Mountie, you think of programmes like Due South, and I could never really get into them so when this video arrived in the post (I won it in a competition) it stayed in the envelope for five days because I really wasn’t interested in watching it. Big mistake. The movie opens with laughter, ends with laughter and is filled up to the brim with laughter. In case you haven’t ... ...(Nell) to the enemy (Snidely) Dudley gets ready to kick some major arse. He becomes a masked man on a mission, setting out on his motorcycle to defeat the villain, win the heart of the fair maiden and bring peace back to Semi-Happy Valley.
Ok, so the plot sounds fairly stereotypical, which is one of the reasons why I put off watching it, but the way the story is presented is excellent. There is a witty and sarcastic voice-over throughout the film, ...
