An entry into an already rather overcrowded market,Dude, Where's My Car?is a very dumb but ... more
exuberant comedy aimed fairly and squarely at the teen market. An attempt to recreate the classic feel of certain movies from the late 80s and early 90s, it centres around two hopeless individuals (Jesse and Chester) and their efforts to piece together the night before and, more importantly, find Jesse's car. The plot--such as it is, takes in many a convoluted turn with the introduction of transsexual strippers and aliens but still finds itself stretched thin over the course of the meagre 79 minutes. The film's aspirations are clear. With it's central duo and infuriating use of catchphrases it is almost a direct steal fromWayne's WorldandBill&Ted's Excellent Adventure, both of which are leagues ahead in terms of writing, performance and general style. The humour here is base and far too obvious, concentrating on the old standbys of sex and toilets, plus a small dig at blind children along the way. For a better example of such humour head for the genuinely funnyAmerican Pieor, for a teen comedy with actual intelligence and panache, the peerless10 Things I Hate About You.On The DVD:The extensive range of extra features are in keeping with the overall style of the project. The audio commentary from director Danny Leiner and his two main stars is simply a succession of in-jokes and childish hysterics, while the behind the scenes documentary is equally banal. There is a selection of extended scenes, trailers and TV spots plus a music video from Grand Theft Auto, the best thing about the whole package. --Phil Udell

I have read all the scathing reviews on Dude, Where's My Car and feel I have to stick up for it - it really isn't that bad! I wouldn't say I'm a particularly immature or childish person but it was still very enjoyable and doesn't deserve all the criticism - honestly!
Ashton Kutcher, better known as Demi Moore's toyboy, and Sean William Scott, of American Pie fame. star as Jesse and Chester, two moronic potheads, who have no recollection of the drugs-fuelled night before, and have misplaced their car. Unfortunately, it happens to be their anniversary with their twin girlfriends, and they are promised a 'special treat'...
They have to retrace their footsteps and hunt down their car before they are dumped by the twins, but it's never as easy as that is it? They soon discover the previous 24 hours were a lot more eventful than they thought, and they soon have angry 'gender-challenged' strippers, violent ostriches and science geeks dressed in bubble-wrap on their trail!
Two dumb losers looking for their car - that's the extent of the storyline! I expected it to be pretty bad but was pleasantly surprised. Of course it isn't intelligent and though-provoking - what do you expect with a film called Dude, Where's My Car? If you take it for what it's meant to be, then you won't be disappointed.
Of course the humour isn't for everybody - it just depends on what you find funny! The humour is slapstick, nonsensical and although some of the jokes are a bit embarrassing, most of them raise at least a smile if not a laugh! It's stupid and dumb but genuinely funny in parts, and will have you rolling around in hysterics. Switch off your brain and you'll enjoy it! One of my favourite scenes were when at a tailor's, buying suits, they discover they have tattoos...
JESSE: What does mine say? CHESTER: Dude! What does mine say? JESSE: Sweet! What does mine say? CHESTER: Dude! What does mine say? JESSE: Sweet! What does mine say? CHESTER: Dude! I SAID, WHAT DOES MINE SAY? JESSE: SWEET! WHAT DOES MINE SAY?
Have you figured out what the tattoos say yet? It sounds ridiculous written down but it's a lot funnier than it looks, and is a pretty typical scene from Dude, Where's My Car? It's so silly and goofy that you just can't hate it - it's completely inoffensive! At the very most you'll think it's immature.
Ashton Kutcher and Sean William Scott pull off their roles perfectly. I don't think the film would have been such a success without these two - they are perfect as the stupid but strangely likeable naive geeks! The acting isn't great; in some parts even wooden, but this is what makes the film - everything about it is so bad, from the storyline to the jokes, that the film is actually quite good!
The film, although heavily panned by critics, actually made stars out of three of the cast. Ashton Kutcher is known mainly for being Demi Moore's arm-candy, but has gone on to star in Just Married, and is the presenter of the MTV show Punk'd (making Justin Timberlake cry!). Sean William Scott, although slightly less well-known is definitely more successful - his CV includes the American Pie trilogy, Road Trip, Evolution, Final Destination and Old School. Jennifer Garner, who plays Wanda, one of the twins, has appeared in Daredevil, Catch Me If You Can and Pearl Harbor, as well as having her own TV show, Alias. Not bad eh?
It's about as deep as Jade Goody but nonetheless an extremely entertaining film. Charmingly stupid is how I would describe it, and the two hapless, naive idiots the film is based on really do grow on you, and by the end of the film you quite like Jesse and Chester! What's more, the sunny, bright weather that provides the backdrop for the film really is a tonic to these grey January skies!
Light-hearted, farcical, silly fun - if you liked the Scary Movie films or The Sweetest Thing then you'd probably like this. It's completely unoriginal (Beavis and Butthead, Bill and Ted?) but it would be a shock if it WAS original! I'd recommend it but it's definitely not for cynics who like their films deep and meaningful.
It lasts for around 90 minutes, which I think is perfect - just short enough so that you don't get bored! With some films you are tapping your fingers waiting for it to finish, but I was surprised at how quickly the time flew while watching this! It is rated 12, but I think a PG would be more suitable.
Dude.. was released in 2000, and the premiere was recently on Channel 4, which is where I first watched it. I went straight out and bought it the next day for £5 - definitely a bargain! I'd really recommend it but approach with caution!
Advantages: uniquely silly ,good story line - has aquired a cult following is a CULT CLASSIC lots of laughs!! Disadvantages: was slated when it first came out -may not appeal to average mainstream veiwer
I have to admit when this movie first came out in 2000(can you believe it was that long ago), I didn't pay it any attention-I had hardly heard of Ashton Kutcher or Sean William Scott!! and it just seemed like it would be a film more for teenage boys -you know full of high school locker room humour and it wasn't until about 2007 that I happened to catch the movie on TV one night that I realised how wrong I had been and that I had missed such a 'SHIBBY' ... ...it bought it on DVD and I have to say it is up there as one of my top 5 films at the moment .
So a bit about the plot:
Two house sharing stoner/slackers,jesse and chester wake up one morning after the night before firstly to discover a stranger sleeping in one of their cupboards and then to a fridge and kitchen cupboards full of what looks like a life time supply of dessert( pots of chocolate mouse). After a short spell of confusion they settle ...

Dude Where's My Car, is to stoner comedy, much what Jeremy Kyle is to the very bored students who watch it, easy light and simple entertainment. And much like the aforementioned Mr Kyle, the lead in both are effectively idiots. Jesse and Lester (Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott) are the two idiots the story is based around, following on from a drug and arguably drink bender in which Jesse's car has vanished, and their memory of the night before ... ...search for the missing vehicle, and the acquisition of presents for their girlfriend's birthday; Wilma (Marla Sokoloff) and Wanda (Jennifer Garner). The story to trace their steps from the night before is where the story comes to it's own, meeting a transgender stripper, 2 groups of aliens, an evil French Emu farmer and a prisoner played excellently by Andy dick.
Ok it sounds really silly, but that's the whole point of it, it's not a movie that's ...

Advantages: One good two minute scene Disadvantages: It was made
The trailers looked dire, the reviews agreed, the worst film I’ve seen this year.
The plot is very bizarre, and bad. Two guys loose their car, and on the search for it they discover that the night before they aquired something that lots of sci-fi freaks and alien things want. On the search for it they talk to lots of different people in the places they think they went, few of which are at all funny. There is also a lot of looking at skinny ... ...this is the saving grace for the red blooded men of the world).
Some reviews said that this was supposed to be the next Road Trip, which was meant to be the next American Pie. I have to say there is no comparison in terms of quality to either of the above. They’re far to good to be mentioned on the same level as this waste of time effort and money.
The standard of acting in this is appalling. I don’t know how much they got for making ...

Advantages: great title Disadvantages: it can ruin you life, your health and your sanity
Picture the scene, it's sunday afternoon and there is nothing of interest on TV. My sister and her boyfriend have rented out this film. Now I'd read some very bad reviews but I decided to see if the critical mauling was true. I can now safely say everything written is justified and frankly I feel like I have wasted ninety minutes of my life on this film. There are two words that you can probably judge this film by and they are 'Stoner Comedy'. I ... ...dooyoo opinion quality to keep up so here we go. Jesse (Ashton Kutcher) and Chester (Sean William Scott) are two lay about guys with no real purpose in life. They have girlfriends but aren't very good to them. One day they wake up after a heavy night to find a kitchen full of pudding and two angry girlfriends on the phone who have a trashed house. So off they go to help clean up and get "special treats" off their girls. But as soon as they get out ...

I'm sorry but if there is anything good to say about this movie then it would have to be that it is a mercifully short movie by recent Hollywood standards. I knew it would be rubbish before I sat down to watch it - I had read the reviews, from the pros, Dooyooers and on other crappier consumer sites but someone else rented it, it was still in the VCR and there was nothing on television so I sat through it... 20 minutes in I found that my java programming ... ...done before and by 30 minutes I had my lap-top booted up and was wroking on it. I stayed with the movie in the vain hope that it might get just a litle bit better, but in all honesty it didn't manage to even make me smile once through its entire running length. Oh I just thought of another good thing I can say about it - Dude Where's My Car made working sound more appealing than watching movies. Pretty impressive. The basic numbskullish idea behind ...

Austin Powers- International Man of Mystery:
Starring: Mike Myers as Austin powers and Dr Evil, and Elizabeth Hurley as Vanessa Kensington
Main Characters: Austin Powers, Vanessa Kensington, Dr Evil
Director: Jay Roach
Rating: 15
Story: Austin Powers works as a very sexy shaggadelic photographer in the 1960s by day and is a secret agent by night. His main mission is against Dr Evil, who really is evil! But when Dr Evil freezes himself and until 1990, Austin is forced to do the same, and lets just say Austin doesn't bear quit the same appeal in the 90's as he did in the 60s!! This film includes loads ...
Advantages: Two great films with great actors Disadvantages: Dude not as universally appealing as AP
Shock, horror, the first Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery was actually released in 1997, a whole ten years ago. Makes you feel old, yeah? Well quite an underated film in Dude, Where's MyCar? was released just three years later in 2000. The two films mark a certain era in teen movies and seeing them packed together in one boxset comes as no surprise.
I'll kick off with Dude as it is probably the one people are least familiar with. It features a young Ashton Kutcher (Punk'd) and Seann William Scott (American Pie) trying to peace together what happened the night before after doing what most teens do, and getting drunk. Their day is a little out there, into the realms of fantasy, hence the slogan 'After a night they can't remember comes a day they'll never forget.'
When they awake at the beginning of the film they find ...
Advantages: Hilariously funny Disadvantages: Need them to make more series as there is only one
boring but it's not. It is so funny. Worth buying as its the sort of comedy like 'Friends' that you can watch over and over and it still be funny. It's the kind of thing you will either love or hate. The type of humour makes it an aquired taste but I still think that the majority would enjoy this. Only one person that I have spoken to about 'The Office' Didn't enjoy it and he liked the film 'Dude, where's mycar?' Enough said. Trust me its great.

DVD Description
Jesse (Ashton Kutcher) and Chester (Seann William Scott) got really wasted last night. The fridge is packed with pudding, their girlfriends--"the Twins"--are ticked off, and somehow Jesse's car has disappeared. So the hapless stoners set out to find the car, which happens to have their girlfriends' anniversary presents in it. But they soon discover that losing the car isn't even half the story. The lovely Christie (Kristy Swanson) is mysteriously hot for Jesse; Chester is a favorite customer at the local topless club; and they owe a suitcase full of money to a transvestite stripper. On top of all that, they're being pursued by a minivan full of geeks, horny "space babes," and a couple of "totally gay" Scandinavian dudes--all trying to find the "continuum transfunctioner," the device that can save or destroy the universe. Duuude....
