A forgotten classic Review ofDrunken Master (Subtitled and Dubbed) (Wide Screen)by

Advantages: The most technically perfect fight scenes I have ever seen. Disadvantages: Slightly tacky, although this comes with the genre.
...several times already!
The Drunken Master is one of Jackie’s first starring roles in a major production. Before this film there had been a lot of bit parts and stunt work and even several starring roles in less expensive productions….Shaolin Chamber of Death for instance.
For this film though, Jackie was given the choreography duties which he would make sure no-one could rightfully take from him again.
The film centres on a young man ... ...posture and style of the Drunken Masters, a plot twist that enables many elaborate fight scenes to be extended upon with the addition of a jug of wine that must not be spilled.
I have followed Jackie Chan for a number of years – taking in about 50 of the 100+ movies he has been involved in – and I can honestly say that even though this movie is set in the forests / small villages of China and doesn’t have the budget of even the ...

Advantages: Fantastic fight scenes, exciting and humorous performances Disadvantages: The dubbing is out of sync with the mouth movement
The adventure begins when Freddy (Jackie Chan) gets into a fight at the local market, as punishment he is sent to be disciplined by his uncle - a local martial legend and alcoholic known as beggar su who is feared for his 'Drunken boxing' technique. Freddy runs away from home, but inadvertantly accidently runs into his uncle during his escape and is then subjected to a year of gruelling practice and physical excercise. When the year finishes he returns ... ...known as thunderfoot (Hwang Jang Lee). He must then apply all he has learned to save both his own and his father's lives.
The film as a whole is quite linear and follows the basic Chinese tradition of protecting a father's honour. However, Jackie Chan's presence makes the film far more entertaining as he uses comical elements to bring originality to a cliche' storyline. I would recomend this film to any fan of Jackie Chan as it is one of his best ...

Quick review of Drunken Master (Subtitled and Dubbed) (Wide Screen) Review ofDrunken Master (Subtitled and Dubbed) (Wide Screen)by

This film is certainly a classic. Yes, the storyline is simple. Yes, the fact that the film was made in the late 70's shows (notably in how young Jackie looks and how effeminate his hairstyle is) but we don't watch Kung-Fu for the plotlines we want fights! The kind of fights that are in this movie with Jackie humiliating and being humiliated by his opponents is the best! I defy you to find anything more entertaining in Kung-Fu than someone fighting whilst simultaneously drinking from a he-uuge jug of wine. If you do find it, it'll probably be in something that Jackie Chan is in.

Advantages: Great movie Disadvantages: Dubbing isnt very realistic
...the one where he uses drunken style fighting are good. I found the ending to be the best part of the film where they were fighting in the mines.
This is the only jackie chan movie ive seen that impliments a split bamboo cane as a deadly weapon :P
After watching this i'd definitely buy a couple more jackie chan dvds. Thunderbolt is a lot better than this, better storyline and great opening music, but then it doesnt capture the oriental feel to it.

Advantages: Who would have though alcohol makes you stronger????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Disadvantages: Fight scenes too fast.........could even be an advantage???????!!!!!!!
Drunken master....where do I start. This movie has everything from realistic and innovative fight scenes, to comedy at its finest. The thing which struck me the most about this movie was that there was an absolutely perfect balance between comedy and martial arts action.
Plot summary: "Jackie Chan plays a young man who's more interested in carousing and causing trouble than he is in learning martial arts. His father tries, unsuccessfully, to punish ...
