Advantages: Superb music good story Disadvantages: none
...One of the best films I've ever seen.
Music superb, and just right for the film with very good insight into the many moods of the story.
The location most interesting, and is about traditional and cultural values. It is a different type of love story.
Fast pacing in some parts during the fighting, which is build around old style traditionand values.
I coped with the subtitles very well, but not everyone holds that view.
I was not at all disappointed with the dvd. I did not know that it was going to be as good as it was.
The Photography was superb, helping to give insight to the film and added to my enjoyment.
A Dvd to rembember! and one to add to any collection, A must!...

Advantages: Fantastic film for all the family Disadvantages: Subtitles, but are easy to keep up with
...Ang lee's finest piece of cinema is now avalable on DVD. This was the winner of numerous academy awards and Oscars for best forgien film. In it's first week of release it grossed millions of dollars across the world. The plot of the film is very well structured with a very easy to follow and pick up half way through story. The charaters are very beleivable in the time that the film is set. The graphics, action sequences are excellent with a good lot of sword play all the way through the film. Martial arts fans will be loving it from start to finish, that's not to say it will only interest them. This is throughly enjoyable film for all the family, althought some of the younger viewers may find it hard to keep reading the subtitles and watching the film. All in all an excellent film and a worthwhile purchased to watched again and again....

Advantages: Solid cast, if average thrillers usually thrill you then you'll be thrilled to know you'll be thrilled...ahem, I've seen worse... Disadvantages: Lacks suspense and thrills, drags in parts, somewhat cliched and often very obvious. Manhunter did it better.
...remaking for at least another 50 years! The sole reason for Red Dragon's existence is that it was guaranteed to rake in the cash for a money grubbing movie studio and then they could sell the trilogy as a DVD box set with Anthony Hopkins playing Hannibal in all three movies instead of Brian Cox appearing in the first which might not have been so appealing. The resulting movie born from this is everything you'd expect it to be. It's lazy and doesn't touch the original in terms of class...and it's not helped by Brian Cox actually making a far more chiling Hannibal Lecter than Hopkins does here.
The bottom line already? There really is no need to read any more. Basically if you’ve seen Manhunter, then you have no need at all to see this movie because it offers few surprises, if not, then rent Manhunter instead of Red Dragon because...
