Review: The photography and music are first rate and the film is beautifully acted by Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura. (Variety, )
Advantages: Great movie Disadvantages: Dubbing isnt very realistic
...Ive seen this and ive got to say its a good movie, its not one of those movies you'll laugh and laugh at, its more story orientated. There are a few fight scenes and the one where he uses drunken style fighting are good. I found the ending to be the best part of the film where they were fighting in the mines.
This is the only jackie chan movie ive seen that impliments a split bamboo cane as a deadly weapon :P
After watching this i'd definitely buy a couple more jackie chan dvds. Thunderbolt is a lot better than this, better storyline and great opening music, but then it doesnt capture the oriental feel to it.
Watch it and find out for yourself!...

Advantages: Good ammount of action Disadvantages: Could of been better
...Misaki is a girl who hasn't seen her mother in seven years, living with her grandparents. When she travels to Tokyo to finally meet her mother, she notices a new game called "Angelic Layer" - essentially a game where you build your own robotic doll called an "angel" and then have it fight against other angels in an arena called "layer". Misaki, intrigued by the game, quickly becomes a skillful player and starts winning competitions... but little does she know that "Angelic Layer" is more than just a game and that her mother is part of that "more" behind it...
Fortunately, "Angelic Layer" is not "Poke-angel", even though it looks a little like it in the beginning. The setting is actually very realistic; though the plot is set in a near future where semi-telepathic control and humanoid machines are possible, the entire technology...

Advantages: The most technically perfect fight scenes I have ever seen. Disadvantages: Slightly tacky, although this comes with the genre.
...of the Jackie Chan image.
All his co-stars (as with Sammo Hung on Martial Law) seem to have a script that demands disrespect and ridicule towards the Asian guy.
Obviously, Jackie must not mind this role, as he has done it several times already!
The Drunken Master is one of Jackie’s first starring roles in a major production. Before this film there had been a lot of bit parts and stunt work and even several starring roles in less expensive productions….Shaolin Chamber of Death for instance.
For this film though, Jackie was given the choreography duties which he would make sure no-one could rightfully take from him again.
The film centres on a young man who lives with and is trained by his grandfather to fight in several martial arts styles, the monkey, the crane, the tiger etc…
The mischievous Chan, however, is more intent...
