Driving Lessons 2006, Run Time 98 Mins, Rating 15. The Story
This is a story about two unlikely friends, Ben Marshall (Rupert Grint) a young boy aged 17 on the verge of manhood and an elderly retired actress named Evie Walton (Julie Walters). Ben lives with his over protective mother (Laura Linney) and his father (Nicholas Farrell) who is a preacher. They are not your average family; they appear to be very kind and generous to those in need but ... ...relationship. His mother decides that Ben should get a part time job and so he does working for retired actress Evie Walton. Evie is an exocentric woman who is very theatrical; she says what she thinks and swears a lot, unlike teenager Ben. Evie is shocked at how 'Good' Ben is and decides to try and bring him out of him self by taking him on a camping trip, she gets him to defy his parents, swear, drink, rake the law and have sex!

...and the 'Visual Guide To Passing Your Practical Driving Test 2006-2007' DVD was on sale at £6. instantly knew after reading the description that the DVD would help me and would inevitably help my partner in the long run.
The DVD described as a 'study aid' was very bright and appealing. The yellow colour was quite attractive on a shelf of dark coloured DVD's. There was an 'L plate' displayed in each corner of the box with a mini cooper. The text stating "fast, effective learning" on the front was another thing that helped me turn it over to read the back. It stated that it would help "towards driving test success". On the back the DVD showed a few screen shots and looked very comprehensive and helpful.
The DVD is split into chapters which helped me split lessons into manageable goals. The chapters are split into the following sections; some...

Advantages: Lots of practice clips to test yourself, clear and easy to understand. Disadvantages: No booklet, try to sell you other products in the Introduction.
...one of the dvds or cd roms available - so in that way it seems like the DSA introduced it to make more money. It hasn't been running long enough yet to see if it has made an impact on the high accident rates of new drivers. Having said that, I watched my first hazard perception dvd before I started drivinglessons, and I can honestly say that it made me more aware of hazards around me when I did start driving.
I won't know if all this practice has really paid off until I sit my theory test, but I feel much better prepared for the test and more confident after using this dvd. There are sites that give you so many days access to practice tests for a fee, such as http://www.theory-test.co.uk/asp/, but I think this dvd is better (and you get more clips) so I would advise anyone taking their theory test to get one....

*My Opinion*
Overall, I found the dvd useful - but not as useful as one of the other dvds that I bought. I watched this dvd for the first time before even taking any drivinglessons. In that respect it helped me, as I was more aware of what was going on around me when I did start lessons. The chapters are interesting, and the quiz in each chapter was good in helping you remember what you'd learned. My main complaint is that there aren't enough clips for you to try for yourself - there are only the ten at the end. I found this disappointing as each clip can only be used as a training aid once - obviously by the second time you watch it you already know where all the hazards are so your score won't be a true reflection of your ability. Therefore it would have been nice to have more clips.
