DVD Description
Features the dramas 1492 - CONQUEST OF PARADISE, GREY OWL, and FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX (2004). 1492 - CONQUEST OF PARADISE looks at the life and times of the adventurer and explorer Christopher Columbus from his triumph at discovering the Americas, to his death in obscurity. GREY OWL is based on the true story of Grey Owl, an Ojibwa Indian living during the 1930s. Grey Owl uses the forest for his own financial gain but when he meets a Mohawk-Indian named Pony, falls in love with her and he begins to understand more of the habitat that he lives in. In FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX (2004), a pilot on a routine trip out to investigate some remote oil rigs in the Gobi Desert makes a crash landing in the middle of nowhere. For him, and the men along for the ride, a slow, tortured, thirsty death seems certain, unless the plucky mechanic in the crew can design a whole new plane from the wreckage. The men and one woman have to tangle with murderous desert raiders and numerous sandstorms in addition to the frequent squabbling amongst themselves.
Advantages: An aesthetically pleasing collection Disadvantages: Some rather poor inclusions
...A selection of classic Hammer films from the very good to...not so good. An aesthetically pleasing set for fans of the studio, or those wanting at least half of the titles. Features star favourites Peter Cushing, Raquel Welch, Ursula Andress and Christopher Lee (about whom there is an interesting documentary with 'Scars of Dracula').
The extra features vary greatly, the biggest ommission, in my opinion, is the total absence of subtitles for the hearing impaired.
For those who are interested all films are anamorphic, some for the first time, and completely uncut.
My personal favourite was the inclusion of the 1965 film 'The Nanny' which stars a very chilling Bette Davis in a well scripted, and often overlooked role.
Probably a tad overpriced for most, but new DVD versions of individual films are also available, so take...

Advantages: Three great plays in one set Disadvantages: No extras
...Alan Ayckbourn is probably one of the greatest comedic playwrights of his generation. His plays are extremely well-executed looks at the frailties and foibles of everyday life and of "ordinary" people.
The Norman Conquests (staring Tom Conti as Norman) was made by Thames Television. It is a series of individual plays that cover the weekend of a weekend at a house in the country.
The play are entitled Table Manners, Living Together, and Round and Round the Table. The audience is allowed to eavesdrop on a series of happenings and events that all involve the characters who are living at or staying at the house over the weekend.
The events start at about 5.30 on the Saturday afternoon and continue through until a little after 9 on Monday morning.
Each play is complete of itself, but you would miss the joy of watching everything...

Advantages: All 20 movies from the start to end of brosnan Disadvantages: none
...Since i was a child i have been introduced to the well known character of James Bond. From Sean Connery through Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and the most recent being Daniel Craig. This collection was a must for me as it has all films up to current except the most recent Casino Royale. This collection consists of 20 ultimate edition films which have been digitally restored from their original quality also including a bonus disc.
The boxset starts with:
