The Notebook is the perfect night in!
Advantages: Great story-line , beautiful love tale. Disadvantages: Bound to have you crying!
The Notebook is one of the best Romantic , Tear Jerkers that i have watched. From the begging to the end you are captuated in a tragic love tale, and are sure to come out at the end of it sobbing madly!
The film, although sad has a beautiful story line where true love always come through. You instantly fall in love with the characters and the soundtrack helps create atmosphere! The story, although at first seems quite straightforward, ends with ...

Bean 'n Gone
Advantages: Disc would make a nice Frisbee Disadvantages: Too many to count.
...and since this, I wonder? Jack (Costello) gets a job babysitting a young prodigy-cum-brat, and Abbott plays his manager. The prodigy-cum-brat is basically a… well… brat. In an attempt to settle the boy down, Jack reads the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We leave their black and white world and, very ‘Wizard of Oz’ like, we appear in a colourful world where Jack lives with his mother.
The story is pretty much the fairy tale story that everyone ... ...the gist?
However, when Jack starts to climb the beanstalk, along with Abbott – who plays a butcher (Jack swapped his cow for the beans with the butcher – was basically conned, but the giant takes the cow and Abbott wants it back; plus the giant has a goose that lays golden eggs… added incentive for Abbott), the village below bursts into song. This surprised me somewhat as I did not expect that. A bit of ‘filling in,’ I suspected at the time.
But ...

Advantages: Robert. Robert, HUBBA HUBBA Robert Disadvantages: Sorry, none...
...will put my hands in the air and admit that I am fickle and would enjoy this film even if the story were dire and torturous. I simply defy any woman to watch this 114 minute film, and more specifically watch and ogle Hubbell Gardner (a young Robert Redford. Swoon - God certainly outdid himself with this one) and not just love this movie because, well – we’re women and this is one of the perks! However, the movie itself was surprisingly good, or no, ... ...of Africa and MANY more). The movie was made in 1973 (though is set in 30’s to 50’s), and tells the story of the rocky relationship between conservative writer Hubbell Gardner (Hubba Hubba Redford) and Katie Morosky, K K K K Kikki (Streisand) an intense (this may be an understatement) political activist. They go to the same college. He, of course, is popular, an intelligent ‘jock’ but sensitive too and she is on the opposite spectrum, not too popular ...

GONE WITH THE WIND (1939)
DVD (2006)
"There was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South. Here in this pretty world, Gallantry took its last bow. Here was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair, of Master and of Slave. Look for it only in books, for it is no
more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone with the wind." It is rated PG, but with its war violence and frightening images it is inappropriate for most kids under 8. And it may not hold any interest for children under 10 or 11. AWARDS

Sense and Sensibility plus extra features = great item
Advantages: What extras there are complement the film well Disadvantages: Might only appeal to a specific audience, few extra features
I can't fault the technical quality of this DVD - the menus are straightforward and easy to operate, although the one confusion I always have is whether the audio commentary option is switched on or switched off. The menus look elegant and in keeping with the marketing material used by the film, but things like this could be clearer, in my opinion. The sound and picture quality is excellent - sometimes there is a mismatch (even on TV) between the ... ...that the volume level you thought you needed is suddenly deafening, but in this case that problem doesn't apply - and in spite of the five year gap between film production and DVD, the picture never looks washed-out (as is sometimes the case). I have rated the special effects in this case as average - although I have picked up from background research that some scenes required a rain machine, because it is a period film, there is little need for ...
