Advantages: The title song, it launched the careers 2 big stars Disadvantages: Dreadful adaptation of a great novel, laughable love scenes, horrible performances

... ...that the film version of ENDLESS LOVE isn't in the same league. Scott Spencer's novel is about first love being destroyed, though its not so much about the love between two teenagers as it is about obsession. The book is told completely from David's point-of-view, and we don't really meet Jade until two thirds of the book is read. In summary, the story is this: we meet David right after he is banished from the Butterfield home because Jade's father ...

"Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?"
Advantages: Breathtakingly beautiful Disadvantages: None
...Leonard Whiting, just 17, as Romeo and Olivia Hussey, a mere14 as Juliet. This makes them more or less the actual ages of Shakespeare's characters. I thought that both Whiting and Hussey were superb actors (even at their young ages) and they play well off each other. These roles were debut ones for both young actors. Having two young, attractive actors playing the lead parts did attract a lot of younger audiences. I was a teenager at this time and ... ...Apocethary scene explains just where Romeo got his poison and the fight with Paris explains the Prince's "brace of at your discord", these were both omitted from the film. Despite the missing parts of the play, Zefferelli uses the rest of the script so well and creates a story full of pathos. The sets, the costumes, and the cinematography are bright and colourful, and not only the young lovers, but all the cast exuded youth. This cast of the film ...

"Greatest Civil War Film Ever Made"
Advantages: Stunning performances and unforgettable Disadvantages: In places historically incaurate
...fight for their freedom"
Glory is without a doubt one of the greatest civil war films ever made. The film follows a black regiment of soldiers (the fifty-forth) through their training and eventually to fighting in the civil war. There is a great line-up of cast members, proving to be some of their greatest on screen roles to date. The film stars Matthew Broderick as col. Robert Gould Shaw along with Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman and Cary Elwes.
... ...to point out there are several flaws in the films historical accuracy. The most important being, in the film, the fifty fourth are portrayed as the first regiment of black soldier. It is true that they were among the first, but not actually the first black regiment. Along with this most of the slaves who were in the fifty forth had not previously escaped slavery as is portrayed in the film. But most of this can be excused as overall as a result; ...

Advantages: Ethan Hawke in amusing hat Disadvantages: it is crap
Hamlet is my favorite Shakespeare play. I know it fairly well. It lives up to the hype, so to speak.
This movie, however, is self- indulgent and badly written, poorly scripted bollocks. It has not one fatal flaw like our hero, but several. The entire movie is a multitude of sins, too voluminous, and some too hideous to cover fully.
First of all, the cast. Julia friggin Stiles (Ophelia) is in every modernised Shakespeare thing ever made. She's a ... ...the entire film. Ethan Hawke's Hamlet is weak and unconvincing, often over- acted. Bill Murray provides some comic relief with his scarily accurate portrayal of pottering rambling old Polonius, but one decent performance does not a movie make. In fact, Murray merely serves to highlight by juxtaposition how terrible the other actors truly are.
Updating Hamlet to a 20/21st century setting (Manhattan) yet retaining the original names and language doesn't ...
