She was a wonderful lady who enjoyed life as much as she could after my father's death in 2003, and I will always miss her. She loved reading my film reviews every chance she got, and was anxious to see myself actually getting into the film business myself. Ironically, the original screenplay I've been working on is about the relationship ...

The hours- You don't want to miss this beautifully told film
Advantages: Story and strong performances. Disadvantages: Slow.
...was regarded as one of the best films of 2002. This film has three stories, spanning over a few decades, dealing with the lives of three women. A woman(Meryl Streep) planning to throw a party for his writer friend who suffers from AIDS in 2001, a pregnant wife awaiting her husband's birthday party in the 1950's and an author named Virginia Woolf writing her novel "the hours" in the 1930's. Its the novel that binds them together, and also their state ... ...From the first scene itself, the film binds you with its story-telling.There's something really honest, really sincere about this film. Emotions are mostly kept inside, it is more thoughtful, rather than verbal. It is essentially about what all three women are going through in their lives, battling depression and confusion in life in their own ways. All three stories are fabulous and there's hardly a weak link in the movie. This is not a movie on ...

The Deer Hunter DVD Review
Advantages: Performances. Disadvantages: Requires your undivided attention.
Perhaps the main reason The Deer Hunter connects with me so much, emotionally, each time I watch it is because it's not really what I would call a "War Film". Opening in the late 1960s, in a small working-class town of Pennsylvania, it tracks three Russian-American steel workers, Michael (Robert De Niro), Steven (John Savage), and Nick (Christopher Walken). The lives of these characters occupy the screen for a large majority of the movie: we see ... ...going on hunting trips into the mountains. The reason the film chooses to focus upon these hard-working people is to show the importance of human bonding; how one chooses to celebrate his life by surrounding himself with friends and family. The Deer Hunter never attempts to make its characters seem flawless; instead, they each are out just to have a good time before they depart to Vietnam with the army. When they meet a soldier at the bar of the ...

4 Summer Days In Iowa And A Lifetime Of Turmoil.
Advantages: An Emotional Journey Disadvantages: Implausible Accent By Meryl Streep.
The Bridges of Madison County is a film set in the heart of rural Iowa, in a place where everyone knows everyone, and where family values are paramount. Sprawling farms stretch into the distance, carving lives into boxes and days into duties. People are happy within what they know, they have structure, but there is precious little time for feelings and emotions in this demanding environment. Based on the novel by Robert James Walker. Meryl Streep ... ...Robert Kincaid, a photographer for The National Geographic, who is sent to Iowa to photograph the covered bridges, famous in the area for their unique style and appearance. The film is based around the love affair which ignites between these two. The drama takes place during the days when Francesca's husband goes away with their family to the County show for 4 days, where they are to exhibit their prize steer. Robert calls at the house for directions ...

A Contrast of Characters
Advantages: Great directing and fantastic acting. Also has a great story to tell Disadvantages: -
In modern day life families fall apart, move away and loose touch. Barely any get the chance to ever see each other again as both sides are as stubborn not to get in contact first. It happens regularly, but what if it’s a bit more serious than just wanting to patch things up? Bessie is a carer for her dying Father and loyal Aunt Ruth. She cares for the two of them 24/7 and has done for the previous 20 years after her sister Lee (the fantastic Meryl Streep) left to marry.
