The Mafia ain't got nothing on this guy......
Advantages: Some powerful moments and acting
Disadvantages: Not as good as it should have been
I had visions of this being a masterpiece, it had been hyped up so much. What with awards nominations and rave reviews, big names such as director Ridley Scott and actors Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, and it being based on quite an interesting true story, I was really looking forward to it.
And yes, it is good. Was it as good as I had expected? Probably not. It follows the the life of drug lord Frank Lucas (Denzel) who sets his business in ...
...the biggest drug runners in New York. After many failures and finding himself at the last chance saloon as far as his career goes, detective Ritchie Roberts (Crowe) tags onto the rumour mill and slowly but surely edges towards catching Lucas. This would be a multi-billion dollar operation stopped in its tracks. Or, it could be disastrous. Either way, one of them will find their career is over....for good.

G.I.JANE awsome girl power, kick ass movie
Advantages: cheap in price, feel good movie
Disadvantages: drags on a little bit
G.I.JANE in my opinion is a great and gripping movie, mixed in with a whole host of emotions. You will feel anger, achievement, power and especially motovation for all you girls out there.
If I was a girl who had a bit of a rough time at work, I would want to put this movie on because it would make me feel like nothing can get in your way and give you the mental strength to deal with the problem.
I think that G.I.JANE is a real girl power movie ...

Black Night for me the day I watched it
Advantages: Young Michael Douglas in a period piece
Disadvantages: Slow, difficult to uderstand, bad soundtrack
A Ridley Scott action thriller with Micahel Douglas and Andy Garcia in it sounds great! Nice macho picture on the DVD box for the ladies to swoon over and the promise of car chases and fist fights for the boys - oh, wasn't it great in the 80s before the notion of PC correctness crept in?
You settle on the sofa with a bottle of beer and a bag of popcorn, ready to be pleasantly entertained while feeling slightly superior - 'A guilty pleasure' as one ...

I was sadly disappointed by this film. I'm a big fan of Lethal Weapon etc, and thought this was going to be a buddy cop movie of the same ilk -perhaps with a bit of Jackie Chan action thrown in for good measure.
I found it was hard to understand the actors, and had a slow plot. Worst of all, I found it was slightly insulting to the Chinese. The lead characters didn't take kindly to a foreign ...

Not Vintage but Palatable
Advantages: Entertaining for the most with some enjoyable moments of humour
Disadvantages: Drags its feet too often and Crowe's annoyingly fake British accent
