Quickly, Professor, you are running out of time..!!

Advantages: Excellent and engaging story-line, superb performance by lead characters.
Disadvantages: None really.

...highly entertaining thriller movies like Arabesque and Charade. TITLE CHARACTERS # Gregory Peck plays the role of Professor David Pollock (An exchange American Professor in Oxford University who is also expert in ancient hieroglyphics) # Sophia Loren plays the role of Yasmin Azir(A beautiful mysterious Arabian girl, who also tries to decipher the code.) # Alan Badel plays the role Nejim Beshraavi(A rich and powerful Arabian Businessman, who is ...
...MY PERSONAL THOUGHT Arabesque is a highly entertaining thriller movie, packed with comedy, intense fighting sequences and brilliant acting. Director Stanley Donen is mostly famous for his musical movies and earned many prestigious awards for his superb works. He gave a lot of effort and time directing this thriller movie. Legendary Alfred Hitchcock was widely famous for his brilliant thriller and suspense movies during that time, and it was not ...

The first of many beautiful Hepburn movies

Advantages: classic example of old Hollywood romance
Disadvantages: soundtrack could be more memorable and enhance the imagery of the film more.

...I love this film! In Roman Holiday my favourite actress, Audrey Hepburn, is the beatuiful protagonist and the epitome of poise and elegance as royalty on a tour of Europe. Her immaculate facade diminishes however when she is alone, leading her lonely and unhappy life which has always been concentrated on pre-organised engagements such a galas and garden parties. Yet, upon visiting Rome, the princess created her very own holiday and within just twenty ...
...Beyond the claustrophobic confines of her royal position she leaves the Palace grounds. She falls asleep on the park wall and is found by street-smart American newspaperman Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck). He scoops her up and flags down a taxi, refusing to take the stray girl back to the Colessium which she is so sure in her drunken slumber is her home. The next day Peck finds out from his boss that the girl sleeping on his sofa is actually the princess, ...

Why I, I, I do believe I'm having a flashback, darling!

Advantages: Excellent characters and psychoanalysis
Disadvantages: Drags at parts

...the cinematic exploration of psychoanalysis. Spellbound is described by Hitchcock as being 'just another manhunt story wrapped in pseudo-psychology' but it is so much more than that. Don't let the opening fool you, as it did me, with the first minute or so given away to a brief explanation of exploring psychoanalysis, highlighting this virtues in curing mental illness and reverting the disturbed human mind to reason. I groaned, wondering what I was ...
...However, this means there are no DVD extras to comment upon, nor was there a price, as it was 'free' unless you count the cost of the paper itself! If this piques your interest, then Spellbound is available from amazon.co.uk for £5.48, or slightly cheaper for a second hand copy. ...

Take a Roman Holiday

Advantages: Good film, nice plot, good dialogue, extra features on the DVD
Disadvantages: None

Roman Holiday is a deliciously quirky romantic film, first realeased in 1953. It was directed by William Wyler and won several Oscar awards. The story is based around the fictional Princess Ann (played by Audrey Hepburn) who is visiting Rome, and feels the need (while under the influence of tranquilisers!) to break free of her confines. She meets American journalist Joe Bradley (portrayed by Gregory Peck) who, along with photographer Irving Radovish ...
...few short features related to Roman Holiday and photo galleries. It also has subtitles in English, Bulgarian, Czech, Dutch, French, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Romanian, Slovenian, Swedish, Arabic, Croat, Danish, French, German, Hebrew, Icelandic, Norwegian, Portugese, Serbian, Spanish and Turkish. While this film isn't Audrey Hepburn's finest, it's a lovely, entertaining film, and I'd definitely recommend it! ...

Not exactly a whale of a time.

Advantages: few
Disadvantages: pretencious...

...their careers where they feel the need to refine a dignified salt n pepper beard and go play a burnt out writer, perhaps a subtle hint that the roles they have been getting of late are not what an actor of their stature should be getting. Michael Douglas did it in Wonderboys; Michael Caine did it when he Educated Rita and Jeff Bridges did it looking for the Door in the Floor. Now Jeff ‘Dumb and Dumber’ Daniels is doing it, here playing a burnt out ...
...this is a chance for the movies director in Noah Baumbachs to give his jaundiced and perspicuous view on his parents divorce through the medium of film. Many films have tackled this sort of middle class martial implosion before and they usually get heavily feted. But for me there’s nothing new here and how ever many broadsheet plaudits are plastered across the dust-cover this doesn’t really stand above any other movie in this niche genre. Bernard ...
