Casanova- The life and times of a sex addict... or as it seems.

Advantages: Great story line, well presented.
Disadvantages: A bit bland when it comes to the Jail scene- a little unimaginable.

...maniac (good on him!), Giacomo Casanova who may be one of the most amazing people to ever have walked our plannet. Yes, he's up there with Shakey Boy and Charls Dickens. The film expresses to the audience how Casanova went through his life not even saying a word until his early tweens, developing the art of pleasure; finally speaking. Entriging himself with the works of professors and educating himself in order to put himself into the 'Real World'. ...
...perfect for the role as Casanova as he is able to change from the total witty and comedy role that he performs out so well and also switch to the total serious role and sometimes angered role that is expressed. Laura Fraser (Henrietta), gives a fanastic performance as the love interest of casanova; expressing again a witty performance. Expressing the true values that are important in life. Such as love, friendship and Loyalty. Russell T. Davis' quality ...

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA DIRECTED BY DAVID LEAN INTRODUCTION Anyone who has been following my recent film and DVD reviews (and if you have, thank you!!) would be forgiven for thinking that this was David Lean season!! David Lean has produced so many of my favourite films and is without doubt one of our finest directors. I am nearly at the end (stop cheering) of my reviews of his work - although there are still a couple tucked away ...

Hitler: The rise of evil

Advantages: Focuses on Hitlers rise to power. Good acting +easy to follow storyline
Disadvantages: No special features

I seem to recall that this was shown on ITV prior to its DVD release but I skipped it as I thought I wouldn't be interested. So along came the January sales and as this was at a reasonable price of £5.49 delivered from www.play.com I decided to take the plunge and purchase it; and what a good investment it was. I have seen a fair few documentaries discussing Hitler/WWII/the Nazis etc but never anything detailing how it all started. That's what made ...
...Adolf's childhood, his part played in WW1 and his inspiring speech's which resulted in him coming to power. Robert Carlyle plays Adolf Hitler and gives a terrific performance. The story is broken down in to two 90 mins (approx) episodes each focusing on different stages of his life. Both are discussed below. Episode 1: The story begins showing a young Adolf and quickly progresses to show his artistic talents. However, after being rejected by an ...

Oh, you please me.

Advantages: Well-acted, moving and interesting film, makes you think a little.
Disadvantages: Slightly slow-paced, if that's not your thing.

Venus is a film about an aging actor, Maurice, played by Peter O'Toole, who lives a fairly quiet existence with the occasional minor role in a film or TV series, and meets with an actor friend, Ian, to talk about the old times. The film follows Maurice's relationship with Jessie, Ian's teenage niece, who arrives to stay at his uncle's place to help him around the house. To Ian's horror, Jessie turns out to be very different than he expected, but ...
...The encounter transforms them both to an extent, at least for a moment. Maurice appears a stereotypical pensioner when with Ian, bumbling around the house with trivial tasks. In contrast, when in Jessie's company, he seems revived into a younger man with the urges of a younger man. Jessie in turn transforms from a chavvy, ignorant teen into someone more aware of what she wants from life, and also becomes more aware of her womanhood, if you like. ...
