American History X
Advantages: fantastic fim Disadvantages: none
wow.
one word to describe this film, it's insight into political america is fantastic. It's from the street and shows the drama and feelings of a character reformed of his neo nazi ways. Some really shocking scenes but realitic in it's attempt to show what occurs when racial divide is umongst us. Edward Norton is fantastic as the nazi fanatic and also plays well the reformed nazi. A bunch of nuts in a great film

...me from Poltergeist 2) and one of the patients is Michael Berryman (better known as a hill person from the original version of The Hills Have Eyes). Another one of the patients is Vincent Schiavelli (best known as the subway ghost who trains Patrick Swayze how to move objects in Ghost). His stutter had gone completely until Nurse Ratched mentions telling his mother. The blame for Billy's suicide can only placed on one person, Nurse Ratched and Randle's almost fatal attack on her is not without merit. We are left to assume that Randle has been given possibly a lobotomy after attacking and ...

Let the piano do the talking
Advantages: interesting story, excellent acting, Disadvantages: expected more
...into this movie knowing about the oscars it had won and having been recommended by several friends, I expected something good. As a fan of period films, this movie is set in the 1850's, New Zealand. Ada (Holly Hunter) is a mute who with her young daughter Flora(Ann Paquin) braves the dangerous journey across the world. We see the movie start with them landing with all their belongings, including the priceless piano. Life begins in the leafy forest ... ...Things take a turn for the worse when her new Husband sells her piano a neighbour, George (Harvey Keitel). George however, tells Ada she may earn back her piano by giving him piano lessons. Through the lessons, we see a turbulant but intreging relationship form. This movie wasn't what I expected, yet produced some awesome performances. Inparticular little, Ann Paquin, the devoted daughter and voice of Ada to the outside world puts in a great performance. ...

Living history from the inside of The Tudors' court
Advantages: historic truth, great soundtrack, exceptional acting Disadvantages: none
I was reading the work of one of the finest British historic novelists, regarding Henry VIII's six marriages when I heard about the TV series itself. I purchased the DVD immediately and watched the first part, season one, over and over again. For me it was a unique sensation, like travelling back in time. The locations, the costumes, the lively, natural acting are at least astonishing. I enjoyed the high quality of the images and the exceptional ... ...actually experiences and feels at the same time with the characters. The series starts with King Henry's youth. Jonathan Rhys Meyers was the perfect choice for the king's character, because historically speaking, Henry VIII was indeed until his late 30s a prototype of male beauty. He is a young, dashing king, who's married to Catherine of Aragon, the daughter of Isabela of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon, six years his senior. The film gradually ...
