American History X

Advantages: fantastic fim
Disadvantages: none

wow. one word to describe this film, it's insight into political america is fantastic. It's from the street and shows the drama and feelings of a character reformed of his neo nazi ways. Some really shocking scenes but realitic in it's attempt to show what occurs when racial divide is umongst us. Edward Norton is fantastic as the nazi fanatic and also plays well the reformed nazi. A must see for any film fan action drama politics the lot if you ...

We are left to assume that Randle has been given possibly a lobotomy after attacking and ...

Living history from the inside of The Tudors' court

Advantages: historic truth, great soundtrack, exceptional acting
Disadvantages: none

I was reading the work of one of the finest British historic novelists, regarding Henry VIII's six marriages when I heard about the TV series itself. I purchased the DVD immediately and watched the first part, season one, over and over again. For me it was a unique sensation, like travelling back in time. The locations, the costumes, the lively, natural acting are at least astonishing. I enjoyed the high quality of the images and the exceptional ...

He is a young, dashing king, who's married to Catherine of Aragon, the daughter of Isabela of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon, six years his senior. The film gradually ...

The Piano

Advantages: A great film to watch, a very emotional film which is gripping to watch..
Disadvantages: none

The film, The Piano, is a film that tells a story about a young woman’s journey from oppression to freedom. The main character, Ada McGrath (Holly Hunter), is sold off in marriage to marry Alisdair Stewart (Sam Neil) and is thus sent away from her home to New Zealand. She is accompanied by her 9 year old daughter, Flora (Anna Paquin) and her beloved piano. When Ada arrives on the beach of the New Zealand coast she is dressed in black dress ...
...provides a stark contrast with the vast backdrop of the crashing sea and grey skies. Ada has not spoken ever since her lover was killed by lightning. She communicates through her piano and sign language, understood by her daughter. The way in which she uses the piano reflects her mood in a very strong and clear manner. Understandably is then enraged when her new husband refuses to take the piano because it is too too heavy. The piano is rescued by ...
