A David Lynch teen movie(???!!)
Advantages: A real challenge to the brain cells, if you're up for it! Disadvantages: Unwatchable as a stand alone feature.
...in 1992. For the uninitiated: Twin Peaks was a show that took television by storm at the start of the 1990s. It followed Special Agent Dale Cooper and his attempts to solve the murder of teenager Laura Palmer. The series ran two seasons before a totally polarising finale and cancellation in 1991, the fans were hungry for more whilst the general public were left scratching their heads in puzzlement.
I was firmly in the first camp. David Lynch’s television ... ...a conventional whodunnit theme and moments of buttock clenching terror was like food and drink to my fertile teenage mind. Kyle McLaughlin played Agent Dale Cooper (or ‘Coop) an incredibly wholesome and principled federal detective with spiritual influences who battles both the physical and spiritual worlds to solve his case. The series was unique in that the focal point of the series only appeared in flashback, ‘Fire Walk With Me’ introduces Laura ...

Where " acid " meets the movie screen......
Advantages: Simply a beautiful if somewhat bizarre movie Disadvantages: Very shocking and explicit in most areas.
Some movies are made for entertainment, some movies are made to tell a story, real or fiction and some movies are made purely for fun.........and then you have this movie.
David Lynch is well known for the bizarre, his Twin Peaks series has to rate as one of the most bizarre and brilliant stories of all time and this movie, follows his format to the letter. Take some very hard core, infamous actors, give them a script that is written especially ... ...direction. If they want to adlib, then let them, if they want to suggest something, give them their heads and let them run with it and if they want to make a scene even more extreme, let them and go along with it. The actors really do make or break a movie and in this one, the actors literally did make it. When you have done that, draw out from them the performances of their lives then edit the footage together in the most unconventional way possible, ...

Wild At Heart
Advantages: a nice change from modern films with no plot Disadvantages: nicholas cage gets his hair messed up
This film is one of my all time favourites. it's not the sort of film that you watch again and again, but i like to get it out every year to refresh my memory.
i often find that 'popular' films and new releases don't have very good plots, they have one basic idea, that never develops and has lots of loose ends. characters don't get introduced, their backgrounds are never explained etc. people go to the cinema to switch off rather than excersise ... ...of underlying messages, and you find out different things everytime you watch it. it's a very quirky film - and makes lots of references to The Wizard of Oz.
this is a film to make you think, and it will stay with you long afterwards.
plus it has young nicholas cage in it =)
- the story goes like this:
Sailor (Nicholas Cage) and Lula (Laura Dern), are lovers on the run from the police and hitmen sent after Sailor by Lula's crazy mother, Marietta.

A Damsel in No Need of Rescue?
Advantages: a classic, a beautiful digital transer, a wonderful soundtrack, a fascinating documentary Disadvantages: not for all tastes
...the jaded eighties, David Lynch's Blue Velvet is a piece of celluloid bound to forever fascinate or repel.
Lynch's career was not made by BV but by his first film Eraserhead. It is, however, his sophmore effort into the world of color. The man knows how to use the technicolor paintbrush like no other and the new digital transfer supervised by David Lynch, himself, is nothing less than breathtaking! After years of seeing it pan and scanned on VHS ... ...wished for salvation. To me the answer is clear and leaves me wondering if the ending is an altogether happy one for the woman.
Blue Velvet is certainly not a dish for all tastes but I will certainly return to the DVD for more than just a second helping. ...

If The Cap Fits...
Advantages: Moving, well acted and directed . Disadvantages: Better for an edit, slightly too long. Unavoidably sombre.
