Great action Great cast Great story Great movie

Advantages: Acting, Action and plot
Disadvantages: none

Desperate Measures is a very good film that didn't do as well at the Box Office as I feel it deserved to. It has an original plot and some good action so is makes good entertainment. The plot involves Andy Garcias character Frank Connor trying to find a compatible bone marrow donor for his son. The problem is the only match is the very evil murderer Peter McCabe played by Michael Keaton. He makes a miraculous escape and runs round the hospital killing ...
...alive to save his son but as McCabe proves that it easier said than done. There is plenty action to keep the action fan happy. There are explosions and stunts galore that complement the plot rather than just having action for the sake of it. The acting is superb from all the actors. Michael Keaton really does seem truly evil and has a great skill to stare at people in a way that would send a shiver down there spine. He really does a good job at ...

Death is HOT!!!!!

A raw, gritty drama.

Advantages: Acting, cinematography
Disadvantages: Downbeat

This was a welcome return to form for the big man, Clint Eastwood. Since Unforgiven, Eastwood seemed to be going through the motions directing some stodgily average movies like Space Cowboys and Blood Work. But here, teaming up with L.A. Confidential's screenwriter, Brian Helgeland, he creates this ambitious, atmospheric mystery drama and gets some fantastic performances from his talented cast. Sean Penn is an explosive brutal force and has many ...
...he feels from losing his daughter. Tim Robbins has the difficult role as the rather simple minded Dave Boyle, an edgy, wild-eyed character who is haunted by his horrific past. Kevin Bacon and Laurence Fishburne make for a believable and likeable team as the cops on the case. Marcia Gay Harden gives yet again a fearless performance as Dave's confused and frightened wife and Laura Linney gives a sly take on a Lady MacBeth-style figure. It's an outstanding ...

Into The Wild - Hats off to Emile Hirsch

Advantages: Production, scenery, music, ending, acting
Disadvantages: None

Normally a film like this wouldn't appeal to me, i had never heard of this before and knew nothing about what it was. But one day, whilst trying to do some work and wanting to have the TV on in the background, i stumbled upon the start of this film and decided to keep it on. I have to say, i did not get one bit of work finished. Directed in 2007 by Sean Penn, this movie is based on the book written by Jon Krakauer, portraying the true life events ...
...one of that he has everything going for him, he has just gained a degree at university, his parents are very financially secure and want their son to live the American dream. However, Christopher believes that everyone is entitled to their own freedom and so embarks on a harsh and unique journey to discover himself. He gives away his life savings and runs away from home, leaving his family, to travel to alaska and live in the wild. Whilst here, he ...

Drip drip drip.....

Advantages: An interesting biographical movie.
Disadvantages: An interest in art is really a prerequisite.

...the name Jackson Pollock. Pollock stunned the world with the novelty of his paintings. Instead of painting with a brush Jackson used a stick which never actually touched the canvas; instead he dribbled and flicked the paint over the surface of the canvas which was laid out flat on the floor. The pieces he created in this manner, nicknamed his 'drip period' were produced 1947 and 1950 and they are incredibly famous. I believe most people will be familiar ...
...Ed Harris, who also played Pollock and was released in 2000. Pollock is simply a biographical movie portraying Pollock's life, from his time painting as a nobody in New York City and depicting his discovery by Peggy Guggenheim (played by Amy Madigan) and his subsequent rise to fame, fortune and ultimately disaster. Lee Krasner (played by Marcia Gay Harden), Pollock's lover who then became his wife in 1944, plays a huge role in the film. Lee was also ...
