Advantages: a product of its time. highly watchable

...performance is just brilliant. Alfie is a story of a young cockney limo driver who is out to have a good time. Set in the 1960's, when single people - who perhaps, single men were a lot more relaxed about commitment. Of course, the perspective of the film is definitely a male one, and the women in the film do not share the same relaxed views about commitment, in fact quite the opposite. ...abortionists' - and the original 1965 Alfie offers this true raw sense of realism. The re-make whilst being highly watchable and entertaining,just did not have the same effect. ...I at last come across The Boys From Brazil. I cannot remember when exactly I first saw this movie, however the movie stays in my head and is certainly memorable. This is a very deceptive film, people often assume its a boring war film. That was the answer I used to get anyway "Why do I want to watch a war film?" The Boys From Brazil is not a war film, this movie was well before its time, dealing with issues that frequently occur in today's movies ...
