In even the greatest horror there is beauty.
Advantages: Very emotional film, strong cast, stronger plot. Disadvantages: Some special effects quite poor in todays standards, and cheesy musical score.
...received.
The Making Of Casualties of War - This quite lengthy featurette focuses mainly of an interview with director Brian DePalma. He discusses his reasons for wanting to make the film, why he chose the actors he did and other general director bits and bobs. Its not normally something I'd watch and there's a good reason why, it is usually pretty boring and although gives a slightly deeper insight into the film I'd only watch it if I was very ... ...to his claims of the atrocities that have taken place.
Filmographies - Is just a list of each of the main actors films they have been a major role in.
Trailers - Strangely enough has other Columbia Tristar film trailers as well as the Casualties of War trailer. ...

When De Palma Could Direct
Advantages: Great political thriller Disadvantages: Dated somewhat now
...the 1970's and early 80's. Blow Out is a stellar example of De Palma at his very best.
Jerry Terry (John Travolta) is a movie sound effects man, while out recording sounds for his latest movie he stumbles upon an accident. While initially concerned primarily with saving call girl Sally (Nancy Allen) from the wreckage of a car that plunges in a lake, Jack dismisses certain thoughts from his mind. Having delivered Sally to the hospital and finding ... ...half buried in my head. Blow Out is considered by critics and people in the industry to be one of the finest movies in modern cinema history, but despite this high praise it remains one of those movies that is seen by very few people, ask around its frequently only film fanatics that are aware that the movie even exists. Ironically despite the praise (and often criticism too) Blow Out is one of the biggest movie failings financially speaking of De ...

Unhappi - Ness takes on Capone
Advantages: Great gangster movie, brilliant period drama Disadvantages: Not many but a couple of dull performances
...as they are stuck in the midst of the prohibition gloom, not even the police seem adverse to a bribe at all, especially when the man pulling most of the strings is the ruthless gangster Al Capone (Robert de Niro). Desperate to bring law and order back to the streets of the city, a crack force of agents above corruption, labelled "The Untouchables", is banded together under the guidance of federal agent Elliot Ness (Kevin Costner). Along with old ... ...they set about cleaning up the streets and in particular the underground dealings of Al Capone.
Despite their best attempts, Capone always seems to be one step ahead of them as Ness's straight laced tactics fail to make any impact. Forced to play Capone at his own Ruthless games, Ness and his men take the battle to him using his own ruthless tactics to try and capture him.

You shouldn't believe everything you see
Advantages: Um... apparently it's a bit Hitchcock-esque Disadvantages: Where do I start? Watching it appears to be the major disadvantage!
...earth it was about? Body Double is one of those films.
Have you ever sat, watching a film, wishing you had never turned it on?
Body Double is one of those films.
Have you ever finished watching a film and been left with a feeling of incredulity that such a film could have been made, could have starred relatively well known actors, been directed by a cinema-great and been retailed through a major picture house?
Body Double is one of those films.
... ...Palma (Scarface, Mission: Impossible, Carrie), Body Double was brought to cinema screens in 1984. It’s billed as a raunchy, suspense thriller but, as I quickly discovered it is neither raunchy, suspenseful or thrilling.
Craig Wasson (a string of fairly minor roles under his belt) plays out of work actor Jake Sculley. In this “Hollywood films Hollywood” film, Jake is clearly going to be going through a bit of a crisis. He’s been dumped from his latest ...

An untouchable film
Advantages: All star cast who deliver stellar performances, great twists, dramatic and hard hitting Disadvantages: A few very bloody moments
...this very cheaply and by the end of this review I will have outlined why it is a recommended purchase. The film is set in the city of Chicago where crime, bribery and general corruption have become so rampant that they have become synonymous with the city and have become instrumental to the city's growth. The mafia led by Capone have a stranglehold of all the major outlets either through ownership or mostly through intimidation of shops and retailers ... ...powerful and influential adversary and the the fact they are being paid off to look the other way. All of that about is about to change though after a shop whose owner has not met their extortion fees, is bombed. The bombing sparks an outcry though as during the moments of the bomb being planted and erupting a little girl is also inside the shop and is instantly killed. An extremely upset and angered mum of the murdered girl marches into the police ...
